  1. How can you keep players on your next year roster though? Do you just make a vow to not draft each others keepers? We run a live draft and undoubdtedly there's always a few people who miss it and run off pre-drafts and have no control over their picks at some point Yeah we run ours offline, it's more fun that way to make a day out of it watching college basketball, drinking and making fun of people for awful picks. Yahoo did add this year where our previous seasons results are archived through our league page, so maybe it's possible to run a keeper, I'm not sure, I don't run mine. BUT, if you have people spread all over the country, that won't work. We do keepers through Yahoo, and like you guessed, we just pick them all in the beginning of our online draft. But of course, everyone needs to be actually drafting OR if they are doing autodraft they can set their draft priority and just take out everyone elses keepers and list their keepers first, but we've never taken that risk. Everyone sends their keepers to the commish about 2 weeks before the draft and he sends them out to the league so you know whos keeping who. That's what we do too. Everything "keeper" about the league is down offline. We have an in-person draft, which admittedly makes it a lot easier. We created some other goofy rules about drafting prospects, things like that. This will be the 8th year of the league and the 4th as a keeper league. We've only had to replace one guy during all that time.
  2. Perhaps it's time to shut this one down, given that it's fairly obvious this deal won't happen and this thread has turned into nothing to do with Peavy.
  3. Thanks for the tip. Will try to enjoy some of that one on Center Ice insofar as it doesn't conflict with 24. Also, Hartsburg canned today by Ottawa. Can't say I disagree with the move. I've always thought he was a turd of a coach. But wtf is Ottawa doing? How about hanging onto a coach for more than a few months there, eh?
  4. I'm fine with dealing him, but not for another bag of balls. I'm not calling this offseason a failure, but it's definitely a wash at best. I guess ownership (whoever the hell and whatever the hell that means these days) figured they didn't need to spend much more money to win the Central again. And they are probably right. And we all know that will be enough to keep the coffers full.
  5. There is no question the Cards fans are more pathetic. Problem is, living here has made me nearly as petty and spiteful as they are. On a random morning in December, the radio guys on a non-sports station will talk about how they hate the Cubs. It makes no sense. Not to mention, Cards Talk has infinitely more threads about the Cubs than there are here about the Cards. I mean, other than those making fun of their fans. We have plenty of those.
  6. No I saw it too. Great win. Not to look too far ahead, but we may be seeing these guys in April or May. Best to get some confidence now. And is there any doubt left for anyone that Khabi should start every game from here on out?
  7. I do too, but I feel like I shouldn't be this nervous about it.
  8. Wow. Okay, maybe not so fast.
  9. Until Claude just flattened whoever the hell that was... I couldn't even tell... but what a hit! It was Campbell. He had a rough shift there. Absolutely nailed twice.
  10. Nice and quiet period so far. Perfect.
  11. :D Thanks. I feel better now. 8-)
  12. The moron Shark fans booing Campbell still pisses me off. It doesn't even make sense.
  13. Great shift, and Eddy O was dead on pointing out that all the hard work would end up in a penalty. Didn't think it would be on the keeper though.
  14. There's always a Koharsky exception. That goof has been screwing over the Hawks since before I was born. And I'm staring down 30. Some of my earliest hockey memories are my Dad cursing that name. OMFG Kane! Damned post!
  15. Wow did the Flyers ever look bad tonight against the Blues. Great fight between Asham and Janssen, and then another short one. Lots of funny stuff, tons of penalties. Flyers blew at least two long 5-on-3's, and just generally looked a step slow. I was surprised at how many Philly fans were at the game though. Nittymaki threw a punch at a Blues player coming through the crease (no call), and Richards was a punk all night, including nearly inciting a brawl after the game ended. He and Jackman squared off with gloves off, but the refs jumped in and wouldn't allow them to go. I think Richards needed a beating.
  16. HAHAHAHA! I was too busy yelling for a penalty shot to realize Versteeg had scored! Awesome!
  17. This is absolutely ridiculous. I know Cyno agrees. :) Setoguchi was throwing punches in there. And they only call Keith. At the worst, you call that 2:00 each. What a crock.
  18. I just got home from the Blues game. How much time went by before the penalty was called. The next whistle, yeah? The Blues absolutely smoked the Flyers tonight. Mason stood on his head for the shutout. And Richards is a punk. There was nearly a brawl after the 3rd ended because Richards was stirring it up.
  19. I'll have to watch a 5-min version of this one tonight on the DVR. And I'll actually try to stay awake tonight. I didn't think I was that old, but if I try to stay up until past midnight, I won't be able to function the next day.
  20. Them and me. Please no.
  21. That's what you get for trying to ride my coattails, broseph. I freaking hate soccer. I should have known better.
  22. Versteeg being out presents some problems: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/1400351,CST-SPT-hawk28.article I'm looking forward to seeing what Pelletier can do, but moving Eager up to play with the more skilled guys just doesn't seem to turn out very well. He just seems to spoil golden passes sent his way. At least Keith will be back. I might have to go home and catch a nap if I'm going to make it through all of this one tonight!
