    I didn't remember this but JR had a clear breakaway in OT of this game and was blatantly tripped. No penalty shot, not even a penalty. How times change.

    There's a 95/96 Hawks playoff game on NHLN right now. That was a pretty good team. Such a different game then, hasn't even been that long.

    McDavid scored five goals in a prospect game last night, the guy is unreal. Edmonton will be so much better next year, though I think they need to start unloading some of those prior top picks.

    Desjardin took $800k to stick around. Good, he really settled in and was very solid in the playoffs.

    Good for him, got his cup, now gets to go back to obscurity and what I assume was a comfortable life for him and his family.

    Is that true? They took back like 5 million in salary on the trade, or roughly what Saad would have made. Of course they got at least 2 probably 3 players that will fill up that space but I think they might still need to get rid of Sharp and/or Bickell still. This does open up the possibility of bringing back someone like Oduya, Richards or maybe even Vermette, no? Yeah I hope they do still move Sharp. It's not like his value will increase going forward. Same with Bickell. Don't let teams see another year of [expletive] from him and know he's toast.

    Could this also help keep Oduya? I'm not apoplectic.

    This isn't a terrible return. And it probably helps his leverage in Sharp talks because he doesn't have to move him.

    "Bridge" deals aren't typically four years. But I agree, lock him up. Also, good to see Pronger and Lidstrom get into the Hall. It's easier to be magnanimous about this sort of thing (rival guys getting in, though of course they deserve it) due to the Hawks' recent success. Also, Bill Hay was voted in. He played for the Hawks back in the day though I think he's going in as an exec or "builder." My dad and I met him at the HHOF a few years ago. He was just milling about the exhibits. Real nice guy, stood and chatted with us for a few minutes.

    Well I guess the likelihood is a move tomorrow that will probably involve an established (but of course much cheaper) player coming back. Good news is the word has been the market is strong for Sharp and Bickell and a market actually exists for Versteeg.

    I don't like LA getting Lucic, not for their backup goalie and a D prospect.

    The [expletive] does Versteeg have a NTC? Understanding that may not be Bowman's doing... Boston has to be setting up for a big move. Would like some of those picks back for Sharp.
