    There's no way I play if I'm Forte. And as a fan, I'm 100% fine with that. The Bears have [expletive] with him. He owes them nothing. That is complete nonsense. Sure, it's understandable if he doesn't play. But the Bears offered a fair contract and it would be absolutely stupid of them to pay him what he wanted. He had the opportunity to cash in and he chose not to. "Fair" is certainly questionable. I don't typically have much sympathy for pro athletes when they hold out or whine about contracts, but it's different with the NFL. These contracts aren't fully guaranteed and the careers are so short. I think we generally agree though -- he shouldn't rush back if there is a medical risk.

    I don't really buy into the notion that there is too much football. When it's UL-Lafayette vs. San Diego State, I do. Not that I care. I know I don't have to watch it, and it's just a money grab. But it sort of illustrates how stupid college football really is. I don't really see how it illustrates that college football is stupid if they can find a financially viable way to have a couple mediocre teams play late in the year. Okay. Only a handful of teams actually have a shot at winning it all when the season starts. But finish .500 and you get to play in an exhibition game that ESPN rams down everyone's throat and tries to assign meaning to them and... You know what. Nevermind. I'm being that guy that goes into a hockey thread and says "Hockey Sucks!" Sorry.

    And in many circles the perception will be that sentimentality will be the big reason he got in, not because he more than deserved it on merit alone. Just throwing this out there, but it's been said often that he may not have gotten in all this time because many of his peers thought he was a hot dog or showboat. Perhaps it was their punishment to him to not vote him in while alive. Or maybe the rules just changed and made it more favorable. Who cares. I didn't know how I would feel about it, but I'm very happy.

    I dvr'd through the goals when I got home and it sounded like there were a lot of Hawks fans there. There is usually one Saturday night game a year in STL between these teams, and the place is always rocking on those nights.

    My firm's Christmas party is tonight. I'm outraged. Enjoy the game. The place will be amped, especially with Perron coming back. They think he's way better than he is.
