  1. I missed this, but apparently the Post-Dispatch ran an asterisk on their headline of the no-hitter on account of the missed call. Of course, the NY Daily News responded, and I think wins the point: http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/columns/editors-desk/new-yorkers-bristle-at-the-post-dispatch-asterisk/article_2d00e600-adbf-11e1-92a5-001a4bcf6878.html
  2. I don't think you can only look at the numbers with Kaner, given the position changes he dealt with this season. I'll also give him credit -- he played much more of a two-way game this past season and even showed some toughness.
  3. I love that it was reported that Hawk apologized to Wegner, and Hawk went out of his way to clarify to the media that he did NOT apologize. Then what did he call the guy for? And his quotes make him out to be the victim because of the turmoil he has had to endure over the last few days. Narcissistic hack? Check.
  4. Yeah but if it's between Hammer and Oduya, I'll take Hammer every day of the week. Sure, the guy provides no offense, but at least he's somewhat sound in his own zone. if you can get past the eye test- which Hammer tends to fail seemingly all the time- and look at the hockey stats, he's one of the better Hawks defensemen. Perhaps signing Oduya is the move that paves the way for trading Hammer in a package for the fabled 2C that many people feel is such a glaring hole. So far, Bowman has refused to trade any of his draftees/ young guys but a package of Hammer, Kruger, Saad and perhaps a draft pick for Jordan Staal (who supposedly wants out of Pittsburgh) might work. Yeah I can tolerate Oduya if a move like that is the end result. But that reminds me of when Tallon signed Huet assuming he'd be able to trade Bulin.
  5. Yeah but if it's between Hammer and Oduya, I'll take Hammer every day of the week. Sure, the guy provides no offense, but at least he's somewhat sound in his own zone.
  6. Bowman's quotes about Oduya from the press conference are mind-bloggingly stupid. He's turning into Stan Hendry.
  7. He made that much? Wow, I was thinking as some $1m guy he wasn't terrible filler, but that's a bit much. Yeah, Oduya's last contract was for $3.5M/year, I think for three years.
  8. Okay they are saying $600K for Mayers and something less than the $3.5M Oduya was making per season. But honestly I don't care about the price for him. If you tell me he's getting $2M/year, it's still a bad deal. The guy is too small to deal with any kind of hard forecheck. Which pretty much makes him worthless.
  9. I have no problem with Mayers for one year. Probably like $700K or something. That's fine. But does the market bear a three-year deal for Oduya? Jesus, Stan. WTF?
  10. Just saw the video of the last K and ovation. What a great moment. Not a lot of guys get to go out like that.
  11. Not to veer this off the tracks, if it was ever on them, but the WSJ really has become a toilet.
  12. And I thought this was gonna be easy. No, this game will go 12 innings and I'll get caught in the game traffic trying to get home from work.
  13. That's what ESPN had. It froze right after saying Castro was HBP. And then it updated to Castro striking out.
  14. Where was he hit? the bat Sorry gamecast froze.
  15. I'm actually surprised he hasn't given up 10 runs with the strikezone size today. Gamecast had ball 1 to Freese as right down the middle.
  16. I'm interested in what they are doing. Which is far more than I expected. Go Cubs!
  17. I don't want to believe any of that. But I believe all of it.
  18. I'm fine with Philly losing. Laviolette is a dick. But I just flat do not care about these playoffs anymore.
  19. Alrighty, Q says he's staying.
  20. I'm not gonna pretend to know exactly what Haviland does, but I'm surprised it's not Kitchen who is gone. Haviland will have another gig in a snap.
  21. That's pretty funny. Two things though. First, I have to imagine this sort of thing happens all the time. And second, I'm surprised mlb.com saw fit to post that video.
  22. I agree with that to some extent. And I know it's hard to judge hockey coaches -- so many intangibles are involved. But when the team is so up and down, you have to wonder if he is still able to reach them. Which is to say, we don't have a coaching problem, but I won't say that letting Q go necessarily creates one. Of course depends on who replaces him.
  23. And yeah that girl on the right is nasty.
