  1. Yeah in fits of rage I'll fess up to a willingness to trade Kane for a bag of pucks. But in the calm of the offseason, it's clearly not a good idea. He has slowly developed a more sound two-way game, especially in the second half of last season. And it's certainly not his fault that Crow was facing so many shots. Plus he's just so young. Would be tough to give up on the guy now.
  2. I didn't know where to put this -- the potpourri thread has apparently been locked on account of shenanigans. The Cardinals just blasted out an e-mail offering $4 tickets for the July 2-5 games. I know the economy is bad, and the market for Cards tickets has always been soft. BBFIA my ass. But $4? Geez. P.S. I still won't be going.
  3. Funny. Guy knows he needs to be traded, so he kills VAN's leverage. I'm also stunned to hear that mental midget wants nothing to do with Toronto.
  4. Yeah that was ridiculous. Are NHL teams allowed to pay salaries of guys they trade? And would the union allow a renegotiation of Luongo's deal? And would Luongo even consider that? Three yeses, and I might start to consider it.
  5. More important than all this draft business, Dr. Q told reporters yesterday he thinks Hossa will be ready for the start of camp. Hopefully that was based on something he's been told by a doc.
  6. Teravainen. No deals yet.
  7. Tweet from Kaner. I think he's trolling us: @88PKane: Congrats to @kingjames on winning the title tonight. Nice to see the most scrutinized athlete ever quiet all his haters
  8. Rumor is Bobby Lu may be traded in the next 24 hours. Love draft day...
  9. Yeah this is a bummer. Trying to plan a trip to the 'Peg for a Saturday game early in the year. But I doubt those first few weeks will be played. I would be stunned if they don't resolve it, Don Fehr and all. Critically important for both sides to get it done. Can't have another labor dispute already. I'm not listening to a rapist  Suddenly Kaner's antics don't look so bad...
  10. Yeah this is a bummer. Trying to plan a trip to the 'Peg for a Saturday game early in the year. But I doubt those first few weeks will be played.
  11. Right, that's why I like Bollig. Like Eager, he can actually skate a little. Not a lot, but along with his fists he deserves a roster spot.
  12. Except for Bollig, I suppose that's true. He will get his normal fourth line minutes. Seems like a lot would need to happen for Smith and Hutton to play any meaningful role. Though with Crow being, well, not very good, and Emery being old, who knows. I can't believe the goalie situation. Reminds me of the neglect Philly showed to the position a few years ago. Not that I am in favor of overreacting like they did with the Bryz signing. In other news, if you thought the Oduya contract was bad, STL just have Jackman basically the same deal.
  13. Two years each for Bollig, Smith and Hutton. I'm good with all three. I guess only Bollig could be questionable at all. But I like him. As for Smith, no brainer. Don't know much about Hutton, but if the goalie situation doesn't change between now and the start of the season, I'll bet we see a lot of him next season.
  14. The feed was really crappy today, though maybe it's my work network. Only worked for about 15 seconds before freezing multiple times. If Tiger is in contention, this is just about all I will be doing this weekend. Which is cool because it's supposed to be stupid hot here this weekend.
  15. Timing seems odd. There's no crush of fan anger right now. If I read it correctly from out of town, seems like everyone is just resigned to the team being shitty this year. So it's got to be some fundamental disagreement, I'd think.
  16. That's pretty amazing. For some reason I thought another 8 seed had won the Cup. I think one of the teams in the mid-aughts made the Finals as an 8 seed and lost. I want to say that was the Oilers. They're the closest team to win it as an 8 seed. Lost in 7 to the Hurricanes in '06. That was a good series. Was really disappointed Edmonton didn't pull that one out.
  17. Well I'm glad that's over. Let's get on with the draft in a few weeks and then free agency.
  18. Exactly. Rogers tweeted a bit ago that the contract must have escalators.
  19. This. MMA has replaced the niche that boxing once filled. Nah, boxing fans just get old and die and aren't replaced. If anything MMA pulls fans from rasslin'.
  20. Going to see plenty of him when he's skating in Detroit next year. I love how every big FA is going to the Wings.
  21. Definitely what SSR said. How can you not root for Prior? The guy was our future and in his very short time gave us so many awesome moments. Standing up to Bonds alone is worth rooting for him a decade later. I'll admit I wasn't really rooting for him much the first year or two after he left the Cubs because I didn't want him to resume being a Cy Young caliber ace immediately after leaving the Cubs and making us wonder what if. But its been so long that he can randomly become the most dominant pitcher in baseball for the next decade and I would love it. I don't know, I want him to succeed, as I said, but there would always be that nagging "what if" for me. I guess that's why I'm apathetic. I would like to see him pitch at Wrigley though.
  22. I have nothing against Prior -- wish him nothing but the best. So I'm not judging you guys -- but why are you rooting so much for him?
  23. Saw something on Twitter and turned game on just as Ross ripped that one. My fault.
  24. Good lord that guy is terrible. It's almost like he's trying to get fired so he can play the martyr.
