Yes, he is a very good goalie. I think we all agree on that to some extent. But it's a balancing, and the contract is so crazy it's not worth it. You really think Luongo would go into Vancouver and win a huge playoff game?

I'd bet the Wings overpay Carle. I like him, but he's got the market by the balls right now. Saw a mention on Twitter that the Hawks are in on Alex Semin. No thanks a million times over.

Pittsburgh is out for Parise. I almost feel like that's bad news at this point.

I don't want both of them going to Detroit, obviously, but both going to MN would be trouble in the long run too since they'll be in our division when realignment is finally done.

I shouldn't put much stock in this, but rumors this morning say the Hawks are out on Suter and Detroit will likely get him, but another says Suter wants to go where Parise goes. Thinking goes if Hawks lose out on Parise they look to Doan or Nash. What a letdown that would be, especially since getting Nash would mean a huge K and parting with picks/prospects.

There's no question whatsoever that Toews is the most valuable Hawk. After that Hossa is second by a bit. Shouldn't even be comparing them. The comparison should be between Hossa and Sharp or Kane, if we assume as part of this parlor game that we sign Parise and Suter and therefore need to get rid of one of the big contracts. No one mentions that the guy that goes could be Seabrook or even Keith.

because of length? sharp's cap hit is higher, but also has more value in a trade than hossa b/c of the length. Yes because of the length.

Would you rather part with Hossa or Sharp? On ability alone, Sharp goes. But looking at the contracts, Hossa would go.

Okay now that I actually watched the video of him talking, I think he's basically made up his mind and just wants to run it by his family.

So a Minnesota reporter caught up with Parise this afternoon at the airport, and although the thought was he would decide before the holiday, sure doesn't seem like he's in a hurry. http://www.startribune.com/sports/wild/161237025.html Not that he needs to be or we deserve him to be. But this has been going on for three days and he hasn't even talked to his fiance about it yet?

I think 9 per is a little high for both of them. 8 is more likely but either way your analysis of what they would need to do to afford them is about right. Today has to be the day, right? At least all the Twitter chatter and speculation is making my depositions go by quickly.
