  1. i clicked this expecting a link to this LOL thread at cubs.com instead i opened a new email to Lol@cubs.com. Me too why to an email?
  2. Another coach with actual NFL experience that is not Bears related. Which is encouraging. Less encouraging is Houston's pass defense rankings over the past few seasons, although that's obviously not a DB-specific stat. exactly, he may be a non-Bear coach, but its hard to judge his success otherwise. I guess we'll see. Maybe he will convince Angelo to draft Vontae. I wouldn;t mind that, dispite the non-need. Wouldn't mind him...I've heard he's a huge problem in the locker room though...My friend who plays safety for them says he always mouths off to Zook. Maybe he'll tone it down on the NFL level, but I got a bad feeling based on how Vernon is
  3. Wow did not see that coming....Looks like the Bears won't have to look into drafting a safety in the first round
  4. They got to the superbowl because their offense was good enough to get them to that game. They won the actual Superbowl game because of their defense. Their defense was better than their offense but I do not believe that they could have made it out of the AFC on defense alone. It really comes down to this. Is it an accident that the Bears have not been able to develop a QB the last 20 years or is it because they focus the bulk of their resources on defense? Have the Bears had little offensive success because of bad coordinators or because of a lack of offensive talent? Perhaps the answer is both. So why can't the Bears get a good offensive coordinator? Why do they keep hiring Defensive guys as head coach? The Bears team philosophy hasn't changed since the days of Ditka and they have 1 superbowl victory to show for it versus many one and done playoff appearances. So if you want to say that defense wins championships thats fine by me. It just hasn't won the Bears many championships. That fact is undeniable Yet three of the four teams left in the playoffs this year were The Steelers who were number one, The Ravens who were three, and The Eagles who were four.
  5. Dude they were ranked 4th in the league in overall defense I wasn't mislead. Check yourself http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1999/opp.htm The Rams are historically known for there offense, but there defense was one of the best in the league as well
  6. historically, the colts have been a very very good defense with bob sanders in the starting lineup and probably wouldn't have come close to winning the superbowl if he did not come back in the playoffs. Yeah agreed the only real bad year they had was 2006 when they won. there Run-D was god awful until the playoffs
  7. wha? you serious? hahahaha Looking at the Superbowl winners from the last 10 years or so what I see are teams that were, for the most part, offense first. The Patriot teams that won did so because of Tom Brady and the offense. The Colts won because of Manning. The Rams, The Broncos and I'd say even the Steelers won because they had a good offense. On the other side of the coin there's the Ravens and last year's Giants. The Ravens are an extreme example of absolute domination on one side of the ball, much like the Superbowl XX Bears. The Giants, though they did have a very good defense, don't win without strong play from Eli Manning. you must be absolutely drunk stupid to believe the Patriots, Packers, and Colts didnt play strong defense. While the Colts defense wanst anything to brag about early in 2006, it certainly came about in the palyoffs. The Packers in the 90's had a great defense, to go along with Favre, something people for get about. Teh Broncos in the 90's were primarily an offensive minded team, but they too played good defense. you need balance to win the SB, and more importantly, intelligance to understand how to manage that balance. The Bears inability to develop a QB has nothing to do with their desire to run a team with a stong defense, at least it doesnt have to. Don't forget to mention the Rams defense which was top 3 in the NFL that year they won two statistics about it * Led NFL and NFC in rushing defense (74.3 yards per game) * Led NFL (tied with Jax) and NFC in sacks (57)
  8. Wow I didn't even see he was gone....Good luck even though I'm a bears fan and despise the Colts....He was a great coach and seemed like a good guy
  9. More log jam at the guard position woohoo
  10. i think psu wins either 7 or 8 games the rest of the way, ending up 21-10 or 20-11 going into the big ten tourney. their OOC schedule was such a joke that i think they need to end up a couple of games better and then win at least one game in the big ten tourney. I could agree with that and if they play well in the big ten tourney they probably will make it into the tourney Yeah, if they win the Big Ten tourney, they have a decent shot of making it into the tourney. No I'm just saying winning there first game. If they finish 22-10 that would probably give them a good shot to get into the tourney

  12. I remember after the 2000 season when we were way under the cap and the pipe dream was "we're signing Duncan, Hill, and McGrady to team up with Brand and Artest!" We ended up with Eddie Robinson and Ron Mercer :( I just threw up in my mouth
  13. I doubt that would happen, but we could dream for it to
  14. I'd do it in a second because Hughes needs to go and Nocioni is to inconsistent. It also makes sense because a lot of people are talking about how him and Bosh aren't meshing. I don't think he'd be the best improvement, but at least he can score and he'll be gone after next season
  15. Purdue had a middle of the class recruiting year just like the last few years. They're ranked 63rd on Scout.com Most of the big recruits are DT which is a need on our team. Most of the recruits are three start athletes. looks like Purdue will be near the bottom of the Big Ten next year
  16. Would Pitt let him go that easy?...I feel like Big Ben gets hurt a lot so Leftwich gets more time than you think your feelings would be wrong... yeah he starts almost every game, but he gets taken out for little injuries a lot and Leftwich or Batch have had to come in
  17. Philly/Zona in the NFC Championship game didn't convince you to stop betting on football? I can't fathom how many people lost on the Panthers v. Cards game
  18. Would Pitt let him go that easy?...I feel like Big Ben gets hurt a lot so Leftwich gets more time than you think
  19. Purdue finally starting hitting their shots yesterday. Hummel played well and appears to have shaken off his injuries. Johnson is off to a nice start, averaging 14.4 points, 9 boards, and 1.7 blocks per games through the first three conference games. He didn't look great in the Penn State game, but he put up double-doubles in the other two. For the other Purdue fans here, am I the only one that gets nervous every time Marcus Green gets the ball on offense? I mean, I like his intensity on defense and his ability to get rebounds against guys much taller than him, but I cringe everytime he shoots the ball. Thankfully, he somehow managed to hit a couple threes yesterday (after airballing his first attempt). Ha first we posted about Purdue's game at literally the same time and secondly a little bit, but when you have a 3 on 1 and he's wide open and were up by 8 not really, but with anyone in his face yet please pass it away Marcus
  20. I'm surprised nothing happened with this, was there even a fight last night? I was a little disappointed, but man yeah there were some hits...Keith and Ladd both got some solid shots in on guys hitting them on there backs....Also Kane got lit up a few times as well
  21. Huge win for Purdue...There was no way we could go into conference play 0-3 and losing two at home already. Hummel probably had his best game of the year and looks fully healthy as well. The other good thing is Kramer only played 20min so he looks like he could improve even more and showed no signs of the injury.
  22. This is me jealous. But I am going to be at the game here on Saturday. And to top it off, the wife (that's going to take some getting used to) got me a pretty sweet wedding gift: an authentic Bobby Hull home sweater. Even has the "A" on the front and the "fight strap" on the back. So I'll be sporting that one Saturday night. \:D/ That's a pretty cool gift hope you have a good time!
  23. Went to the game last night...First off sat about 20 rows in front of Butkus...Man was that cool he got a standing out from everyone in the stadium...Besides that though very big win and Byfuglien had a nice slap shot goal
  24. Well I got three of my four picks this week right only missing the Cards game, which I think everyone did. So this week: Ravens and Eagles
  25. why doesn't texas deserve two? In my eyes that's what it should be...I just never was that enamored with Texas and if Ohio State hadn't blitzed the whole team so there was nobody down field if they passed then they would have lost...In my mind if you do a playoff system Florida and USC would meet in the final
