  1. 2nd rate among first baseman. Ranking anywhere from 20-9 among qualified 1B in OPS. 200 OPS points off the leaders. That is 2nd rate. You're far too generous if you think that's an elite 1B. Defense matters to bud!
  2. If he were to return to pre-Cubs DLee, you better hope he's traded. That was unimpressive second rate production for a first baseman. Saying he was 2nd rate before the Cubs is a stretch. Thank you! he wasnt one of the best, but he still was above average which ill take!
  3. If he were to return to pre-Cubs DLee, you better hope he's traded. That was unimpressive second rate production for a first baseman. I might be mistaken wasn't he a .280 25-30hrs and 90ish RBI guy, I could be wrong, but thats not a second rate production first baseman. 1st base isnt a very deep position and thats those are above average numbers.
  4. Agreed. Agreed and you(Stichface) claiming that Dlee is past is prime is incorrect hes 32 its not like hes 40. I think you are also forgetting that hes the best fielding first baseman in the major leagues. 26-28 is a players' prime years, generally speaking. Once you hit your early 30's you are getting past your prime. I don't really know what it means to overhaul the entire roster. Obviously I wouldn't need 25 guys in return for him. I'm not all that interested in dealing him, but I wouldn't complain if they got 3-4 really solid pieces. Well yeah I understand that I was just trying to prove to stichface that hes 32 its not like hes just gonna drop off and be horrible. He had an amazing year in 2005, but if he drops and becomes Dlee pre-cubs I wont mind he still an above average 1st baseman hitting wise and is also the best fielder at that position. On another note though I agree with you I wouldnt trade him unless we got some great players in return no a couple prospects
  5. You mean all twelve of them?? Seriously. They have no fanbase. Seriously ha, but in all honesty we have to trade away everyone on our team to obtain both of them, like they said possibly Cabrera but I dont they ever trade him as well

  7. Good for the Sox. At least they have the balls to send out guys that are not performing. Hendry is such a puss when it comes to moving guys --they need to cut their losses and move on. In fairness to Hendry, he did send down Cotts! If Eyre had an option left he'd be in AAA too. Releasing players is something altogether different because the team would still have to pay the player with no return--unless the guy has a bargain basement salary, he isn't likely to be released without being given ample chances to correct himself. FYI, the Sox signed MacDougal to a 3 year extension in December. In light of today's move, that looks ridiculous. Yeah he sent down Cotts, but Cotts wasnt the guy we should send down. The only person who was pitching better than Cotts was Wuertz yet we sent down the on left hander who has been pitching ok. People blew up because he gave up the granny against AJ, but he came in with the bases loaded. Those arent his runners. I dont know I just am getting sick and tired of Lou trying to pitch Howry, Eyre who is worthless even against lefies which is pathetic, and lastly Ohman. Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!! The decision to option Cotts was based on him being both left handed and ineffective. BTW, I disagree with your assessment of Cotts. He was pitching decently early (however he was allowing inherited runners to score) but in the days leading up to his demotion, he was terrible. Of the three, Ohman has been the best LH reliever against LH batters. Cotts and Eyre were both being owned by lefties (Cotts demotion came after giving up a granny to AJ Pierzinski--also left handed). While it's true that Eyre has been the most horrible LHRP, Cotts was more expendable because he could be optioned. No I understand that, though I think that Cotts wasnt nearly as bad as Eyre vs. Left handed hitters I think the last time I heard is avg vs. lh was something like .400 or something it was ridiculous, but I agree neither has been reliable and up until like a few weeks ago Ohman as looked horrible I think hes back on track now.
  8. Disagree, Teixeira has played 1st for the last 3-4 years I know hes played some outfield in the minors and stuff, but that doesnt mean it will translate, We have no idea how soriano will be he was horrible in center and its great in left. The only good fielder would be Pie who is good so far, but he can even improve.
  9. That's what Pie, EPatt, and Soto are for. Z and Murton for Kemp and Billingsley Pie/Kemp and Gallagher for Teixeira EDIT: Soriano, EPatt/DeRosa, Lee, Tex, ARam, Pie, Soto, Theriot Hill, Lilly, Marquis, Marshall, Billingsley Are you assuming Texiera can play OF? yep, Tex in LF, Soriano in RF Though I thought we had one of the worst outfields ever..... You just beat it! I love Texeria, but I dont think any of those trades would work and hes played OF before that doesnt mean he will be good at it
  10. Trade makes no sense, if we want Pie to play then play him. We dont need another center fielder.

  12. I wouldnt mind adding any of those drays ofs or phils ofs!
  13. I completely agree I think id add like a Randy Winn to the mix too!
  14. Ha ok I know I started this subject just on Jones and I would trade him to phili for lieber in a second, but new theory trade Ceasar so theriot can play full time SS and derosa doesnt have to sit. Let me know what you think
  15. My dream OF for the Cubs right now would be Soriano in right because he has the arm. Pie in CF because just from like three games its obvious that Pie is a good defensive CF. Keep Floyd/Murton platoon in left and there your OF is set. The trade rumors from the Blue Jays are they true? Who knows, but I think we should move jaque now seriously I dont care for what it doesn't really matter to me. Just wanted to see if you guys agree and what team might take Jaque?
  16. As much as the Yankees need pitching, I can't imagine where they would be without ARod's hitting right now. Personally, I don't think ARod is going anywhere. Completely agree, there going to hold on to him like theres no tommorow. Maybe when pitching comes back they would possibly think about it.
  17. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=chchttp:// Its reported on Cubs.com as well that hes playing today!
  18. Floyd, a left-handed hitter, has a career .281 average against right-handers, and .272 average against lefties. Murton, a right-handed hitter, has a .329 average against lefties and .289 against right-handers. that's pretty much all i need to know. .277 .369 .498 .867 .289 .351 .436 .787 I'd rather have the top set of numbers. But I wouldn't vote for a straight platoon. Floyd's been around long enough that he has seen a lot of pitchers multiple times. I'd rather him start against those pitchers that he's hit well. I'd start him against Livan Hernandez in a heartbeat, for example. I'd start Floyd against Tim Hudson but Murton against John Smoltz. Agree with this comment Platoon espically is certain situation because of his experience against certain pitchers.
  19. Soriano and Murton both ranked as two of the best LF in baseball last year. Most advanced metrics had Jones at above average, too. The outfield defense will be fine. Yeah, but there basing that probably on errors and assists in the outfield. What the statistics don't factor in is the balls that slow outfielders or outfielders who get bad reads on ball can't get to which should be easy plays. I dont know actually I would say Soriano will probably be the most reliable even though its a new position. Murton doesnt make alot of errors, but his arm is pretty week and Ive seen him make some pretty bad reads on the ball alot. Also Jones arm is so week he probably just doesnt make alot of errors. I don't know how many times i've seen him throw the ball directly into the ground and completely miss the cut off man. So I dont know well see.
  20. I dont know what that article is talking about. Ward is a solid bench option who has some pop off the bench in a pinch hi situation. I do agree with the floyd looking horrible in the outfield. Our entire outfield is gonna be bad defensively though. Lets just hope every ball is hit in the infield.
  21. Thats what Im saying. as a bench option he wouldnt be to bad. Like he said Finley can still move which means hes probably still a decent fielder.
  22. agreed, he's old and not who he used to be, but he is definitly the best hitter out of the three. If he is willing to just be a back up center option and a bat off the bench I dont mind him.
  23. It is from a show done by American Idol creators called "So You Think YOu Can Dance" Thanks!
  24. What guarantee? Some projections have Z declining this year and drastically declining of the next five years. We may choose to disregard those projections, but we can't just look at Z's numbers last year and assume he'll produce them again this year. I would trade Zambrano for Jered Weaver and Brandon Wood. Come on now man, at least get a guy whos there best pitcher. Weaver is good don't get me wrong, but he made like 15 starts. I dont know how great he will be. I agree with the Satana, Wood, and another pitching prospect I would do that!
