  1. The Cubs sound like a logical candidate. Hendry was looking for a bat off the bench at the deadline. The Mets make the most sense however, as hed likely get the starting job in left. Cardinals and D-Backs are other likelies. So is Giles going back to San Diego if he doesn't go to Boston I'm confused According to Cbssportsline.com, it was the Red Sox the put the claim: Brian Giles, RF SD News: The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Boston Red Sox have claimed Padres OF Brian Giles off waivers. Boston now has 48 hours in which to try to work out a trade with San Diego. If no trade develops, the Padres can retain Giles, whose contract includes Boston among the 10 teams with with he has veto power for a trade.

Cardinals and D-Backs are other likelies. I dont think he'd be off the bench. I'd say he would play about 50 percent of the games left.
  3. would rather had him signed with a non division rival, but I don't think he'll make an impact so its not a big deal.
  4. Lou really, really pisses me off sometimes. :banghead: Poor Eyre I felt so bad for him he looked really devastated :bye:
  5. I really would love him as a 2 hitter on our team
  6. Yes they will, Felix Pie. I was assuming Pie would be traded, and I still think he will be this offseason. If Piniella is still the manager next season, Pie will not be starting in CF. He thought so little of Pie that he put Reed Johnson, a guy claimed off waivers with horrible splits against RH, in for him after only about 25 abs. Personally, I'm not convinced Pie will be able to hit ML pitching unless he learns some patience, and there's no evidence he has done that at AAA this season (.333 OBP with a .287 BA, and 37 K's to only 14 BBs). I wouldn't mind Pie as a 4th OF/injury substitution, but honestly, I think an organization like the Cubs that will already be getting relatively cheap production at SS, C, and 2b can afford to do better than a great defense/easy out CF. If I'm the GM, I leave Pie in Iowa with an ultimatum to either learn some plate discipline or you won't see the bigs with this team. Yeah, I get the feeling Pie's days in the organization are numbered. Agreed totally...and if we trade him this off season why why be able to trade him for something pretty decent in another area.
  7. Ha that would also solve our corner outfield with pop problem =D>
  8. I think dealing with him is that bad...We need an actual 3 hitter though. If you keep him at first with his great defense you can get by with him batting 2 or 5 or 6. We need an actual 3 hitter though or a guy with pop which leave obviously doesn't really have anymore at the 3 spot. That's my take. I don't think we need to get rid of him we just need an actual 3 hitter. And it would be easiest to fill that slot by finding a corner outfielder with some pop, and the only way that happens is if Kosuke is moved to CF for the rest of his time here, which I have no problem with. Use Pie as part of a package to net a corner OF masher. I definitely would prefer that and hold on to DLee

  10. Right now our pop off the bench is Johnson if he doesn't play....I love the guy and he's played well, but we need some more pop from the right handed side besides Johnson and Blanco.
  11. I would, but like most people have said we'd have to get something respectable in return. Just trading him to fit in Texieria would be a mistake and a ton of money.
  12. He played very poorly after the trade to Cleveland and really hasn't shown anything until returning to Iowa this year. But he has played well in Iowa this year? or were you just saying he has been playing in Iowa
  13. Is he hurt...how'd he end up doing after we traded him to Cleveland
  14. Cool, I felt like this was the first year in a while that they weren't mid-season talking about bringing up Guzman to get a spot start
  15. Wade is not a good GM, but this is all about the owner McLane not wanting to admit to the fans that they've given up. There not even remotely in the race for the playoffs though ha....There not in the division race or wild card? Well, that's obvious - especially to Astros fans. Drayton McLane is a pretty terrible owner. He forced Hunsicker out and has reduced the once-proud Astros farm system to rubble. If they weren't in the NL Central, I would almost say it's a shame. Almost. haha nicely put :rotfl:
  16. I would have to think Pie to if he's healthy,no?

  18. Whats going on with Guzman is he still hurt?
  19. Hector Carrasco has had a solid career, but hes pushing 40. Hes been decent in Iowa, so we'll see what thats worth. yeah Id wouldnt mind just a change of scenery from those two. Give him a whirl
  20. Do we have any other guys we can throw in the bullpen? Weurtz and Hart have gotten absolutely rocked this year?
  21. would the catcher be Hill, Who else do we have in the minor league system that would move up?
