  1. Anyone that this comes as a surprise to was not paying attention last offseason and will likely also be shocked when Bryant is traded.
  2. Last year aside, he’s largely been a league-average regular. With the DH in the NL, that’s a bat worth keeping around. He’s talking about Torres not being good, not Schwarber.
  3. How was it abandoned?
  4. as a kid, that was the only of the 6 title seasons where i actually remember thinking they were going to lose I honestly can't remember as a Pacers fan if we felt we were going to win. It was the 3rd time we had lost in game 7 of the ECF in 5 years, twice where we had shots to win in the final minutes. That Bulls game was so dispiriting too. The Pacers kept getting stops, but simply couldn't get the rebound. This Pacers fan thought we would win. This is my most disappointing of the ECF Game 7 losses because I felt this ECF was for the title. Pacers would have beaten Utah. Best team won, but man the Pacers were really good too.
  5. I loved the obscure guys when I was a kid... Tarzan Joe Wallis (hence the name I use) Jerry White Miguel Dilone (hated Preston Gomez for not using him) Tim Hosley George Mitterwald Pete LaCock Rodney Scott Of the star players... Andre Dawson (my all time favorite) Dave Kingman Jose Cardenal Rick Monday Bill Buckner and a bunch of others (including the entire 2016 team)
  6. Have you noted your favorite teams and sports on there? When I get on there is national stuff, but then also a lot of Cubs, Pacers, Indy, and Chicago stories waiting for me.
  7. I've enjoyed watching these old games. But holy crap is Chip Caray bad! I don't recall him being as awful as he truly was. THERE’s a LASER TO CF! Yeah, he was awful. I had forgotten about HRs being “rally killers”. Two others things he used to do that drove me crazy... He overreacted to every bunt. “So and so will be called on to move the runner over. He lays down the bunt AND IT’S A BEAUTY!!!!” Every time someone bunted in fair territory he’d excitedly scream, “it’s a beauty.” May have been real hard back to the pitcher who is starting to turn a double play, but Chip would have already exclaimed how great it was. He also would say “could” when it should have been “would.” Bases loaded, two outs, bottom of the ninth, tie game, and he’d say, “a base hit here could give the Cubs the win.” No, a base hit would give the Cubs the win. Bases loaded: “a walk could bring in a run.” Did that a lot.
  8. I’m actually watching game 2 on Marquee.
  9. You don’t have to be in Illinois. I am in Indiana have no issues. Perhaps you mean you have to be in the Cubs territory?
  10. My parents have DirecTV and still can't get the channel. Do they need to change packages potentially? What package do you have that is getting the channel? Thanks I'm still not getting the channel after numerous calls to DirecTV. They tell me I have the correct package but it is still not letting me watch. Very frustrating. I am watching on U-verse.
  11. Yeah having that game on the list at all is inexcusable. Having it at #2 is ridiculous.
  12. I want to know what channel it will be on U-Verse. Still not in the guide for Saturday.
  13. Does she still not work for NBC for Bulls stuff? Hero twitter bio says so and that she still works for them for Cubs stuff, which maybe they’ll keep her as a presence for Cubs reporting during the year? No she was let go at NBC Chicago.
  14. I wonder what the deal is with Kelly Crull. She seems well liked and respected. Many Cubs fans have been clamoring for her to be a part of the network. Yet she gets dropped from NBC Chicago and can’t seem to get hired for Marquee.
  15. My favorite is Beltran’s niece.
  16. Madlock was traded. To the Giants for Bobby Murcer and Steve Ontiveros. And I probably cried too.
  17. Yeah I like Bleacher Nation and visit it often, but his over the top reaction to anything a team in the Central does is irritating.
  18. This isn’t directed to you specifically, but something I’ve been wondering about is if an electronic strike zone is maybe only two years away, are we all worrying too much about Wilson’s framing ability?
  19. kelly is an nbc sports chicago employee. she's on the bulls beat now, i believe. don't think she'll be coming, but who knows. i'm not sure what her contract status would be or how that would work. Yes, I know. But I was thinking at the time Kaplan extended with NBCSC that there was some speculation about her contract and whether she might be a candidate to go to Marquee. If she is able to go, I hope she gets the opportunity and does.
  20. I am glad Kaplan isn't going to be a part of it. Also, David DeJesus seems like a nice guy, and he has improved some from how comically bad he was when he first started, but that is a prime opportunity for an upgrade too. Definitely want Kelly Crull to be a part of it.
  21. I think the Hughes call of the Cubs eliminating the Cardinals from the NLDS is much better than his World Series winning call.
  22. Well then I may be accidentally paying for it if it’s bundled with the above mentioned networks. I will not up my package to get it. You probably wouldn't get it unless you upped to a full Sports Pack. It wouldn't be on any standard package. I’m not sure how Marquee will work but I have U-Verse and NBC Sports Chicago and the Fox regional networks are all part of a pretty basic package. There are four levels of packages, and these channels are for sure in the second cheapest package.
  23. I worked in minor league baseball years ago and Gary was our manager in Reno. My all-time favorite manager during my time in baseball and my all-time favorite guy too.
  24. If they didn't think he'd provide continuing value they wouldn't have offered him a job and wouldn't have committed to creating the role in the first place. The Cubs clearly wanted this guy and lost out on him to a division rival that also stole the one good pitching mind they had in the organization. It's a loss. If you are talking about Derek Johnson the Reds stole him from the Brewers, not the Cubs. And he left the Cubs for a big league job with the Brewers so that was understandable.
  25. Not me. I was shocked during the interview. Obviously never heard him speak before.
