  1. I think they see Mo as a DH primarily that can play 1st or catch in a pinch. More time at Iowa isn't changing that.
  2. I'm a liberal, but his batting stance out of spring training bothered me more than going to a memorial service that turned into a political rally that he was invited to by the widow. Pretty sure most mlb players have very different political and moral values than I do.
  3. Keith Law with some interesting info about Shaw (which may be influenced by his political views) The Cubs now have one infielder too many, and they’re going to end up trading someone. The most obvious candidate is Shaw, whose rookie season was a disappointment at the plate thanks to some frequent mechanical changes and, according to people I’ve spoken to, resistance to help from the Cubs’ staff. He also made his priorities clear when he left the team during the pennant race to attend a political rally, missing a game the Cubs lost 1-0.
  4. I think number of years is almost as important as AAV. How many years of decline are you paying current production for? I think Bellinger is the best fit as he could fill RF and backup PCA/Busch, but I worry about him on a long term deal.
  5. I expect Mo to get more at bats than Cassie with Seiya playing RF assuming both are still cubs. Just my opinion - Mo looks like a natural hitter and hopefully his agent or someone has him in much better condition when spring training starts.
  6. I'm hoping for Imai or King, a solid RP + other cheap options the Cubs see something in, and Refsnyder.
  7. Rumor of 5 years 110 million. I sure hope it isn't true.
  8. Appreciate the response - is his arm still a question for third?
  9. I've been very impressed with Shaw's defense at 3rd overall, but it is just my eye test. Any analytics about his defense and particularly his arm? Will he stay at 3rd or would be be better at 2nd?
  10. I think he should retire tonight- go out with a pinch hit walk off homer
  11. That was me - I responded as that thread was locked. Prospect cost Been hit hard lately Prefer a RHP to mix with Shota, Boyd, and Steele (back by this time next year hopefully)
  12. I'm hoping for Ryan, but expecting Kelly or Bieber. Do not want Gore.
  13. I was thinking low 90s before seeing our bullpen in action. Not as confident now.
  14. Depends on the situation- runner on 3rd with 1 out - very bad
  15. They also have 2 exhibition games in Japan and only have the 31 players to use- will be interesting which pitchers start those 2 games.
  16. That article referenced Nico saying he wants to play in the japan series and quoted him as saying we'll see. I'd agree that it is doubtful, but I wouldn't rule it out based on the article.
  17. Neris and Busch were very good moves as well - would like Stanek still but very happy with the offseason
  18. Price for Clase is waay 2 high - Dealing for Bieber/Naylor is intriguing if they are high on Morel
  19. The Dodgers might be able to make it work, but a contract like that would not have worked out well for the Cubs.
  20. Rizzo is my favorite player and I think it is a generous offer for a 32 year old first baseman with an iffy back. I was guessing 3 50. Hard time seeing him getting a significantly better offer.
  21. I'm surprised Jeffress and Tepera are still available and hope we can get one of them back.
  22. I think and hope MLB comes down hard on the Cards for this.
  23. I like both of those ideas
