  1. I think Luther fills that role
  2. Was just watching a little bit of the game and I think Carlson is closer to the plate than Rizzo used 2 be. Mo followed him and was probably a foot further away. I'm guessing that is new for Dylan and maybe attributing to his success. Hard to believe he is only 27.
  3. Not all umps had the same zone before - gonna be great to have consistency. I believe more balls will change to strikes than strikes to balls as catchers will be trusted to challenge more and have the best view.
  4. How is it changing the shape of the zone? Isn't just getting it correct now?
  5. Reduces the amount the team can spend this year - 9 mil for Dalman even though he isn't playing
  6. Shelby 2 the 60 day dland Cowles is back again
  7. Happ is far from my favorite, but he gets a lot of grief for being a top 10 player at his position every year. Checked his contract to see if he was being paid more than I remembered, but is at 20 mil per year which is fine. I did see that he gets a suite for road games per his contract.
  8. He was in the booth for a bit last weekend and said he was doing bullpens twice a week I think around 30 pitches but only fastball in mid 80's and slider. He said he usually would get close to 90 for the last pitch. I don't expect April, but I think May is very possible.
  9. Mooney reported on the athletic that Conforto has a 2 mil salary if he ends up in the majors - did not mention if it has time be out of spring training or a specific option out date. He has him projected to make the team along with Carlson. I'd rather see Chas make it over Conforto, but not a hig deal.
  10. Thanks - I thought he might be less susceptible with his swing and he seemed to hang in pretty well on his super small sample size in the majors last year.
  11. Any minor league info of Mo versus rhp vs lhp?
  12. I think Mo would be fine as a short term injury or rest day replacement or for Busch. I don't see him as the everyday 1B or 1st C, but he can help out at either position for short term injuries or rest days.
  13. Mo played at least parts of 2 games there last year.
  14. Mo can cover 1B for a few games a month
  15. Dodgers claimed Suwinski - would have liked the Cubs to have taken a chance on him
  16. He is either lazy and/or eating horribly being that overweight as a professional athlete. I'm not expecting PCA or Nico, but getting close to Carson or Busch would be a good target for him.
  17. Better shape not a magical transformation. He got himself in much better shape the year before and then was fat again for a baseball player last year. He was still a great hitter, but it hurts his speed and probably his defense.
  18. Mo Baller expected at camp today. I'm intrigued to see if he is in better shape than he was at the end of the year.
  19. Part of me agrees with you - I hated the cheating asterisks, but Bregman seems to be pretty universally revered for his leadership/character. The Cubs wouldn't have won the world series if they hadn't traded for the POS domestic abuser Chapman so they aren't better than other teams.
  20. Agreed - should be 30 seconds. If you can't tell by then it isn't obvious and the call stands.
  21. Has to be pitcher catcher or hitter immediately without any input. Sounds like most teams won't have pitchers do challenges.
  22. I'd prefer 3 failed challenges and you're out. I like that it has to be challenged immediately and manager/coaches/analysts can't be involved. Worked really well at the ICub game I went to last year.
  23. Can the Pitcher shake off the coach? I can't imagine elite pitchers or catchers liking this. Doesn't Boyd call his own?
  24. Next weekend at the earliest for Ballesteros to be at camp per Counsell. Hope he is getting work in the meantime and isn't 2 far behind. Is he playing in the WBC?
  25. Why jump to Steele being obstinate? Maybe he is ahead of schedule or the Cubs think Cowles has a better chance of getting through waivers now.
