  1. The Cubs are going to win something ridiculous, like, 16-2 tonight thanks to this guy.
  2. The Infinity Gauntlet.
  3. Baseball stats should only be taken in sum career totals at any given moment.

  5. Let's think happy thoughts. Over the last 28 days: .229 .272 .323 .595 with a .260 BABIP. Blah. The last 2 weeks: .261 .292 .348 .639 with a .282 BABIP. Better... The last week: .267 .353 .467 .820 with a .250 BABIP (and not counting tonight). Teeny-tiny sample size's worth of hope, but hey, that's what hope is for.
  6. Actually, he's a big part of why the offense is going through a prolonged rough patch. Weren't you the one saying the offense is "in trouble" tonight? People are allowed to have slumps, it's the guys that haven't hit or gotten on base all year like Starlin that are the problem right now. But I know we're not allowed to criticize Starlin and his sub .300 OBP and sub -0.3 WAR here. Right now the problem is the people who aren't hitting right now. that's silly. how do you even define what right now is? baseball is constant ebbs and flows the problem is the guys who have sucked overall and yes, starlin has sucked really badly overall Man, Philosobot is no fun at all. Some of the players are really stinking right now. And Starlin had a good start, too.

  9. Hooray for stats inflated by his freak first month: he's hit .200 .360 .333 .693 over the last 28 days going in to tonight, and it's only gotten worse from there. April 5-18: .754 OPS April 19 - May 1: .878 OPS May 2-17: 1.073 May 18 - yesterday: .512 OPS Sure looks like you're confusing a slump with some inevitable descent to terrible. What's the break down of May 2-17?
  10. Read my last couple of posts. That's a little better than what most people should expect from him once he gets out of this prolonged slump.
  11. I mean, why is it so crazy to think he's just a tolerable catcher at best? His last two seasons sure indicate that's about all we can hope for. What about the first 5 weeks or so of this season would have anyone thinking he's actually turned it around and is going to have one of the best seasons of his career? He's ideally not THIS bad, but why would it be unlikely that he's a guy who ends up just OPSing around .675 the rest of the way at best?
  12. Fret not; Montero sucks. we have montero for more than this year, so you're allowed to like our catcher playing at a 3+ win pace with well above average framing skills After that hot start he's been pretty terrible for a while now. He was decidedly unremarkable (or worse) the last two seasons. I hope he gets pushed to being the backup by someone better. His high mark for OPS on the year was like 2 weeks ago. Hooray for stats inflated by his freak first month: he's hit .200 .360 .333 .693 over the last 28 days going in to tonight, and it's only gotten worse from there.

  14. he'll be fine he's not spanish Come on now, son.
  15. Some writer will say Castro should've been running harder to home, allowing Russell to go to 3rd. Hahahahahah!
  16. Welp, hope you enjoyed it while it lasted, Russell, because basically the meatballs and the local press are going to be baying for your blood every time you screw up from here on out. Poor kid.
  17. Guys, it's almost like you're meeting the Cubs bullpen for the first time every game. It's not terribly good; stop acting surprised over this.
  18. YES!!! LOOK AT IT!!! LOOOOOOOOOK AT IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!! Man, I love that monstrosity.
  19. Wait, why are all of the meatballs acting like Castro ruined that inning? He got the guy over to 3B with 2 outs left, but he's the villain? You oafs are sad.
