Man, my dad and I are going to have to correct ourselves because we're wrong, too; he called it "Banks' BOULEVARD." Anyway, the baskets were installed in 1970, and Banks only hit 7 more home runs between then and when he retired. I hope Joe Morgan falls and impales himself on his cane. -
You mean the 'Banks Buckets'? /Joe Morgan idiocy He called it "Banks' Alley." My dad and I are going to be able and say those two words and make each other crack up until the day one of us croaks. For anyone who doesn't remember this reference, Morgan said on Sunday Night Baseball that they used to refer to the baskets as "Banks Alley" because so many of Banks' HRs landed there. Of course it took 2.1 seconds for a Cubs fan to point out that the baskets were installed in (I think) the early 70s and Banks hit only a handful of his 512 HRs afterwards I remember the booth getting REALLY quiet after that, like everyone knew it was wrong but nobody [expletive] called him out for it.

Right; he was looking a bit better, but now he's injured again and even with his improvement at the plate he still wasn't hitting for anywhere near the power everyone was hoping for. Couple that his horrendous defense and we're now close enough to the end of the season that I'd rather get some one out there more likely to produce than to just keep hoping something is going to click for Soler this year.

If Soler returns from injury and doesn't start, it's because Baez is at 3B and Bryant is in the OF. I don't think Jackson factors into that debate much. Why not? Jackson is a better baseball player than Soler. Yeah, Soler's been wretched this year. Not sure why Deeg thinks he's such a slam dunk the Cubs would just automatically insert him in there over Jackson or Coghlan.

I look at it less as he was in front of the ball so much as the hop ate him up and he had no time to adjust/respond. I don't think anyone likely would have playing in the same spot. Personally, I thought it should have been a hit, but I see why it could go either way.

I keep forgetting Arrieta is as old as he is. I don't know why I think he's a couple years younger. I'm also unsure as to why people are so confident that the Cubs are going to develop good starters in short order. I mean, I sure hope they do, but the cupboard seems a bit bare.
