    They're famous rich people, which has been an American institution almost since day one. It's baffling when people act like that started with them.

    Their popularity sure doesn't say great things, but we already knew most people are stupid. Their popularity is meaningless; people love vacuous celebrities and always have and always will. Why are they supposed to be so much worse? What lofty levels of enlightenment did they drag us down from?

    If people heard my name and there was a good chance they'd instantly think of me as some kind of stupid sports villain it would suck. Yeah, he's not "living in a box on the street"-ruined, but it still blows. The guy didn't do anything wrong and his name is going to forever be a ridiculous joke until his stupid team that he was trying to watch actually wins a World Series. And again, I'm not saying bring him out now; I'd just have no problem with them doing it after they got over the hump. It would just be decent gesture that ultimately would be a single moment in a seemingly neverending victory parade over the course of the next season.

    The Kardashians wish they could actually be decadent because then they'd have a [expletive] chance at even being interesting. Thinking that boring bunch is indicative of any kind of moral downfall is like the prudiest thing ever pruded.

    Exactly. Don't legitimize this idiotic line of thinking. Plus, it takes a great moment away from people who, you know, had something to do with the Cubs. Pretending like meatballs exist doesn't magically make the hell they put Bartman through go away. I really don't give a [expletive] what it "legitimizes" because it would ultimately just be a nice gesture after the fact to a guy who basically had his life ruined just for being a Cubs fan who went to a game.

    Damnit While that sucks for Addison and is not good for the Cubs, it's weird to hear news like that and to not have it feel like a punch to the gut.

    I do not have a problem with a pitcher bitchin' about the bat flip there. It's about the most perfectly acceptable time to do a bat flip, but a pitcher who ends up on the losing end of that craziness is aloud to vent a little to the press. I don't want my pitcher tippin' his cap. It was a more a criticism of how [expletive] his complaining was. If he wants to vent and rage, fine, but don't wuss out and blame it on "political correctness." i think you're nitpicking and reading too much into his word choice. he's just saying he's pissed and didn't want to/shouldn't say what he actually felt. i would still like him starting game 3 for us. is that something that can still be arranged? Then he's griping about not being able to complain about his own [expletive] ass team, which is delicious. Otherwise, what could possibly be too "un-PC" for him to say? These meatheads piss and moan about the unwritten rules all the time, or bitch about bad umping after a game. What a stupid goober.

    It feels like Murray hasn't showed up (or at least hasn't been shown or talked about or made his way to the booth) since he threw out the first pitch in 2012, and even before that it seemed like he didn't make himself known at the games nearly as much as he did in the Caray/Stone days. Murray was at that Cubs/Cards game this year where he called that little kid wearing a Cards jersey the spawn of satan or something. It was hilarious. That was at a game? I thought it was out in public somewhere and the kid just happened to be wearing a Cardinals hat or shirt or something when he asked for an autograph.

    That's surprising considering it'd be a 5:07 local start if LA wins. if it in LA, Ill be there. Just got my tickets off stubhub. I thought about it, but Dodger Stadium is terrifying. Mostly the parking lot.

    Hamels whines that it's hard to be "politically correct" after Bautista tore out his teams' heart and stomped all over it on the way to an amazing bat flip. Suddenly I'm completely at peace that the Cubs didn't trade for him.
