  2. He pitched against the Cubs 8 times last year. That is the joke.
  3. Holy horsefeathers; they also have a Cory Spangenberg. The Padres have some serious Baseball Names going on.
  4. Pretty amazing name for the winning pitcher in the Padres game tonight: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/q/quackke01.shtml David, I apologize ahead of time for never having heard of him or his no doubt undoubtedly stirring rise to the majors.
  5. They should be inspired by that and make a huge be-donged version of Clark who just always lets it hang over the edge of the opposing team's dugout. I think even TT would be on board.
  6. A poster of Pistol Pete and a really tall guy Paxson thinks he saw on the L one day.

  8. I might be in the minority, but I wish they wouldn't have done this. That home run was amazing, but it was also one of 6 that day in a non-clinching NLDS win in a season that ended in the NLCS. No need for it to be there permanently. I thought it was more for the coolness/unexpectedness of a ball landing and staying on top of the score board as opposed to the HR itself being particularly momentous or important in the context of that game.
  9. Well, now I kinda want every Theo TV interview to ID him as "Cubs' Jewish Leader."
  10. Man, that is dumber than dumb. Why compare 6 completely random games? Plus even by the poster's own terrible standards, the Cubs have outscored the Cardinals 42-38 so far this season.
  11. Actually, he's so reliable right now he's the best time for a piss break because you know what's going to happen.
  12. There's gotta be some idiot meatball fans complaining about how this messes with history and tradition or some crud, and I want to see those complaints so I can laugh and laugh and laugh at them.
  13. I think you're confused, I love La Stella, any sarcasm is poking the weird contingent of people who hate him irrationally Sounds like two sides of the same irrational coin.
  14. Kicking off the Home Opener 5-1? http://i.giphy.com/Jlt69Ka6SwtH2.gif
  15. [green]And then give that scalawag Kris Bryant a good what-for, too![/green] Soler's continuing a long bout of sucking; Heyward, meanwhile, has been awesome for years.

  17. So basically nothing can convince you that Thibs lost the team. I can't really help you with that. There's never going to be anything explicitly showing the players saying this stuff, but there sure as horsefeathers was a ton of smoke. If it was just the FO wanting him gone, why bother waiting to fire him for his last season? They couldn't stand him for years before that. If he's got the players still on his side and willing to bust ass for him, then just let him finish out his final year and opt not to re-sign him when they inevitably fail to go anywhere yet again. Why do the opposite and piss off the players you think were still wanting to give him "exceptional effort" when you can just let him walk after his last year? Seems much more likely that the other shoe dropped of him losing the team and thus them losing their reason for keeping him around despite the FO hating him.
  18. I will become a La Stella fan if he makes his walk-up music "Kiss from a Rose."
  19. Because the team started looking like horsefeathers like they were completely checked out at times, plus all of the stories of how you had players going to management and saying they wanted him gone or supposedly even threatening to boycott if he was brought back: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/5/28/8678683/bulls-players-tom-thibodeau-offseason-fired http://larrybrownsports.com/basketball/bulls-players-threatened-to-boycott-tom-thibodeau/263121 http://bullsbythehorns.com/bill-simmons-zach-lowe-discuss-behind-scenes-unrest-chicago/ I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think a coach like Thibs is going to have a relatively short shelf life. No matter how much a player initially buys in, most of them are going to be pretty fed up with a coach like that after a few years, especially if they don't pull off a championship or two. Bringing him back wouldn't have accomplished much outside of not having to pay for two coaches.
