i think that's more a byproduct of them being smart enough to generally go with the shotgun/numbers approach and gamble on a lot of guys rather than investing disproportionately and ill-advisedly in "surer" things. there's gonna be some mottes, sorianos, etc. when they do that but, as you allude to, it hasn't really hurt us. it's even easier to do that when you have a couple of guys like rondon and strop (who were originally acquired by pretty much that same philosophy) at the top. Yeah, that's a better way of putting it; constructing a bullpen is inherently such a gamble because you're dealing with a such a motley selection of talent, and it just feels like they've been bit by bad luck at least somewhat more than what's expected or hoped for.
