  1. But BR only has him at 6.3. And everyone knows BR is where it's at.
  2. I have no idea what is going on there except that I'm disappointed it's not actually a clip of those bears.
  3. Yeah, 2007 was more of a pleasant surprise than anything else; 2008 felt like they were just going to steamroll through and I spent the weeks before the playoffs raging at people acting like the Cubs were doomed. I was more mad at the team than anything else for vindicating those dumb, terrified meatballs. not only did that team not win a game after steamrolling through the regular season, but they barely even showed a pulse at any point. game 1 for a little bit and that was it. Pretty sure I technically gave up on baseball for at least a few hours. Sample size broke me that year.
  4. 2003 was painful for obvious reasons, but I think 2007 was a little more soul-crushing, personally. 08 was easily more painful than 07, especially coming off of 07. 5. What the what? He's not some bloated pudge. Roger Clemens spent half his career looking like Jim Miller doing studio work. Lots of pitchers bloat up. Strop is a truck.
  6. I thought the same thing; he's got old timey Robert Mitchum-body.
  7. It's been 8 days since the Cubs last played, right?
  8. Yeah, I feel like they're a team the Cubs can really clobber the piss out of, and worrying about them over a better team just because they're the Cardinals seems ridiculous. If they were a GOOD Cardinals team, fine, but this is an OK team with some mashing goobers and nothing else.
  9. At this point, I honestly don't care; losing in the playoffs will be losing in the playoffs, regardless of who it happens to. I'm just annoyed by the sentiment that the Cardinals are especially dangerous because my both my dad and brother seem to put the caveat of "yeah, but the Cardinals are probably going to make the playoffs..." after nearly any talk of how good the Cubs are, like the Cards are destined to win it all if they make the playoffs. horsefeathers that horsefeathers.
  10. horsefeathers Stanton. TROUT OR BUST.
  11. His sloppy hubris kinda makes me want them to lose.
  12. Come the [expletive] on. They've hit the third most home runs on all of baseball this season; it's not [expletive] "pixie dust." They just dong a lot. Of course they have been donging a lot. That's my point, they are making up for their deficeincies in other areas by being on pace to hit the 4th most team HR's in Cardinal history. From essentially the same team from last year that ranked 24th in runs scored to 4th this year. You should read Jason Stark's article. So because they're better in one area, but worse in others, that's "pixie dust?" It's literally just a bunch of guys hitting home runs; teams having power surges vs. what they hit the previous season isn't unusual. I mean, they're actually UNDER-performing based on their pythag, but we're supposed to think they're freakishly lucky? They're a bunch of dumb slugging mooks who aren't really very good at much anything else. Not worried about them at all.

  14. I can't wait until it's "AB InBev Field."

  16. OK? The bathrooms still suck.
  17. We have nothing but nightmarish cattle-call depositories. The piss-trenches in Ancient Rome had more dignity.
  18. Man, being there when they clinched in 2008 was amazing. If it looks like this one is going to happen at home, I'm ditching work and headed back to Chicago for a couple days.
  19. why? Wood is a terrible fartknocker and Cahill is better.
