Glad to see gawker go is kind of weird to me. With all the actually horrible media outlets out there, a successful one that wasn't dependant on rights fees and subscriptions was a universal good. Gawker wasn't a bad thing. Nah, they were pretty shitty. Like, if this had happened over the supremely fucked up Conde Nast CFO thing, then I'd have almost no pity. But, yes, in either case, it's fucked up that Thiel was just trying to destroy a media outlet he didn't like by pumping money into lawsuits and was ultimately successful, especially given the anti-media climate being fostered on the Right. Of course, how much of the end result was due to AJ Daulerio being a coked up moron, well, that's up for debate (hint: a LOT).
