  1. Even if you go by Jay's career numbers, he's still got a .378 OBP against LH starters. I just want someone on base. I'm seeing .359 in his career (and .410 this year), but he's working good at bats and LaStella hasn't seen any lefties all year. I'm fine with it. .359 is against lefties in general; the .378 is against LH starters over his career.

  3. Jay's got, like, a .450 OBP or something against lefties.
  4. and no javy against a lefty? Oh yeah; forgot about him, I guess. OK, play Happ in RF.
  5. horsefeathers, I say go nuts and start Schwarber against a LH, and put Happ at 2B.
  6. If Joe miraculously doesn't start Zobrist, I will be 110% all in for assured victory.
  7. How have we been handily outplayed in this series? Haven't you been counting? The Nationals have had two legitimately good offensive innings in this series. Two!! How are we supposed to compete with that?? I guess by having three-ish?
  8. It's a coping mechanism. Personally, if I set my standards lower for this sort of thing then I have found I actually get over it much, much, MUCH quicker. And if I'm "wrong," hey, great! I'm just as pumped and thrilled and overjoyed as if I had been all bravado and cockiness, which definitely leaves me in a much worse mood for a while if things do go bad. I mean, I try to not just be a total Doom Boner (thought not always successfully) and more, like, "OK, here's how it seems like this COULD go wrong."
  9. Yeah, it's one thing if you grab someone's phone or they grab yours and send some joke text to mess around, but to carry on an entire conversation with weirdly specific personal details? I mean, I guess kudos to him for trying to not just go with, "I GOT HACKED!!!" as an excuse.
  10. Yeah, just some rando sports TV wannabe who made an ass of himself.
  11. I'm annoyed I can't find a gif or clip of George and Jerry's whole Two-Face exchange. "She's a two-face." "Like the Batman villain?!?" "...if that HELPS..."
  12. Uh, it's clearly not USELESS as it allows him to dispense his own twisted form of "just-I MEAN, YEAH, GOOD CALL, BRO.
  13. Playoff Joe makes decisions that are logical and designed to get the best people in the game for every situation. I don't always agree, but I appreciate that approach and thought process. Playoff Dusty makes decisions based on antiquated assumptions about what roles are supposed to be on a baseball team. They may end up working out but I will let Playoff Joe manage circles around Playoff Dusty any day. Eh; I think they're more like Two-Face's coin.
  14. Playoff Joe and Playoff Dusty aren't as far off as I'd like. They definitely carpool in Joe's RV to the fishing trip.
  15. https://deadspin.com/nesn-hasnt-said-anything-about-anchor-accused-of-unleas-1819340576 Check out this winner's totally believable excuse: Way to call her a "bitch" in your excuse, champ.
  16. self medicate with alcohol to take the edge off jk you are not allowed anywhere near that park tonight Oh, I'm not going. I couldn't handle it without being able to drink and heat like a food monster.
  17. I don't think anyone was implying that Gio was garbage or anything. But he's also not Strasburg or Scherzer, so I think it's pretty reasonable to be optimistic in comparison. Hey, I'm actually optimistic about Hendricks, too; I was just a bit surprised at how it sounded like the Cubs have this big starting pitching advantage (and like he's fully rested but Gio isn't).
  18. I think I'm being the pessimist to psych myself out of going to the game tonight. The more I think about it, the more it feels like an anxiety attack waiting to happen.
  19. Don't use Q. Hendricks and Montgomery(and I guess Lackey) can get you 6 innings. I'd be stunned, STUNNED, if Hendricks runs into some early trouble and Joe doesn't panic and go to Quintana if the game is still relatively close.
  20. fwiw, gio was getting shelled in september, though that obviously didn't fully manifest itself into anything on saturday. i'm happy to face him after back to back scherzer, strasburg starts though. and we mash lefties. Hey, great; he got shelled in September. The dude's a good pitcher. It's silly for anyone to act like in a one game-playoff it's gonna be snob vs. slob out there.
  21. To the gallery of yapping dingos: No, I don't think the gulf between Gio and Hendricks is such that the Cubs have some obvious huge advantage in their starting starting pitcher tonight, nor does that Hendricks being on full rest have anything to do with anything when whoever the Nats have going to start will also be at least at full rest, so what did that have to do with anything in the first place??! I think the starting pitcher situation is tilted slightly in the Cubs' favor. SLIGHTLY.
  22. Lester because yesterday was his "side day?" Or Lackey...not sure what else you do unless Hendricks just mows them down and never gives Joe a chance to use Q. Did someone leave Montgomery in Chicago? WTF. No, they need him to come in after Lackey implodes in the 3rd.
