  1. Because they moved one team to a market that had previously had a baseball team; nothing about the Nats is an argument in favor of expansion like you're trying to present it. Hell, Colorado is the only one of the relatively recent expansion teams to have consistent big time attendance success. Arizona's next, though they usually barely come in just over 2 million. Expanding when Florida and Chicago both have middling teams (hell, Florida has TWO) barely drawing anything that could be moved elsewhere doesn't seem like a slam dunk.
  2. Unless these guys get off to a quick romp, I'm gonna continue my binging of Mindhunters instead.
  3. I'll go into overdrive in the food monstrosities and bathroom nightmares threads. They compliment each other.
  4. hey - discussion in the Hawks thread will pick up, too.
  5. This headline is gold, Jerry....GOLD: https://deadspin.com/john-lackey-should-be-in-jail-1819503434 John Lackey Should Be In Jail
  6. Christ, imagine if they bomb out of this series and then the only active threads for weeks are these dumb ass Bears threads.
  7. Well, maybe they're blind and they COULDN'T see the Dodgers win the first two games, you JERK.
  8. No technically they only have to win 2/3 at Wrigley but I don't see how they could win both game 6 and 7 on the road in LA. I know they did so in Cleveland last year but I think this Dodger team is better than that Cleveland team. You don't see how they could win 2 games in a row in LA? Really? You don't see how that could happen? I don't believe you. I think you do see how that could happen. I think we all see how that could happen. Agreed:
  9. Series definitely going like this for the Cubs:
  10. If this sham game thread stands, there's no way this thing goes back to LA.

  12. This isn't horsefeathering June. It's October. Wade didn't pitch on Friday, he didn't pitch Saturday and he's not going to pitch on Monday. Nobody is saying to run him out there for 50 pitches again. But it's the top of the order with the game on the line. You don't go down with your 8th best pitcher. You leave Duensing in and hope to steal one against 7-8-9? Sure. But when the inning got dirty, you bring in your best pitcher. He should have been brought in for Taylor. I understand the points. But you can't blame Maddon for Lackey's horrific pitch sequence vs. the guy in front of Turner. Those pitches weren't even close. And unlike our hitters, their hitters don't swing at garbage in the dirt as often. Lackey is the one that horsefeathers up here. No Maddon. And the fact is, we don't have a single reliever outside of the spent Wade Davis who is even remotely reliable in terms of pitching in the strike zone. And he was spent. What happens if Lackey gets out of the inning. Then what. As far as Joe knows, the Cubs could go 3-4-5 innings before getting a run. At least Lackey has a shot to settle down and pitch a few more innings. You bring Davis in that situation and you're in a situation where you have to use another pitcher anyways in all likelihood. Best case scenario, its another multiple inning outing for him. Joe gets second guessed for his decision making. If you are second guessing him for anything, then how about getting his players prepared not to suck ass in the playoffs. The players are simply not performing on the field. How did this get 2 likes?
  13. They are, however, by their own admission only a shufflin' crew, so, who knows?
  14. Barely any pitching at this point, and almost no offense to speak of. I made my peace with things after Saturday night.
  15. Bryant makes the weirdest faces at the plate; he always looks at least a little frustrated or uncomfortable even when he's on.
  16. That's what has me so down for the rest of the series; the Cubs in the first 4-5 innings looked totally different than the other 2017 playoff games. They looked like the super Cubs again in how they just coldly took down a talented pitcher like that. And then, at the drop of a hat, they completely vanish the rest of the game. GIVE ME MORE SUPER CORBS.
  17. I had a buddy bitching about him too and said nearly the exact same thing. He's fun. Probably overboard arguing with the reporter after the game but whatever. Even that cracked me up; I love that the dude just daydreams about phantom HR's he never hit.
  18. I mean, if Baez had decided to declare his own curtain call after inexplicably hitting a HR, people would be jizzing their drawers.
