I think the young guys actually playing the game are more to blame. I'm to the point where I think his lineup construction has actually too often been significantly detrimental this season, even accounting for guys underperforming or being injured.

Jeeeeeeesus. I just noticed the Cubs have 15 LoB. If Bryant and Russell can even just come back as a singles hitting machines who never donged again it would help tremendously.

Yes, but he only gave up 1 run, so relax. If the Cubs are horsefeathers because of that, then they've got bigger problems than just trying to beat the Phillies tonight. He also just missed giving up a homer to Herrera and Hoskins just got under one. With a multi run lead a longer leash would be given. We lost a game vs Pitt a couple weeks ago where he only gave up 1 trying to sneak him through one more inning. Giving how he had been pitching tonight, it's not a surprise that they wanted to see if he could continue. Up until that inning he had been dominating.
