Guys, if you're gonna whiff a ton, at least make him throw some more pitches. -
We’ve faced him on different teams now this year haven’t we? Three.
-
Keep doing this, Lestah.

This dude throwing video game pitches.

Man, Lester looks super vulnerable in every start.

Stop testing that meat cannon, fools.
-
Yowza. It's brutal if he can keep nailing that curve on the corner. What a thing of beauty.
-
A bit unfair to who? I was being SUPER generous.

It means released from our hearts.

Friday night is big time annoying because it was super winnable, but the Cubs have been handling really good pitchers left and right lately, so writing off today already seems like jumping a bit far to a conclusion already.

Gotcha. Well, still; I don't think Russell is stubborn enough to think he's a better option right now offensively, and that not getting much playing time as a starter is going to impact him detrimentally. Disappointed? Sure. But these guys are even more hyperaware than us when they're struggling.

The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

There is no Darvish...only Zuul. -
That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now. that is a very odd distinction you're making. losing the starter role for the rest of the season counts as losing his job in the context of the post you replied to. it is very reasonable to assume that russell is not happy about primarily being a bench player for the rest of 2018. And I'm sure he's also not happy about how miserable he's been offensively and how he's been injured. Of course he'd rather be out there, but I also doubt he's worried that he's in any danger of "losing his job" beyond this season at this point. What's happening right now isn't much different than if he were just on the DL the rest of the way; it's clear Murphy's not coming back, and it's clear also that Theo and co. have, better or for worse, invested in Russell for the foreseeable future. The comment that kicked this off, IMO, made it sound more like a Castro-type situation, where you had a perpetually underperforming player with serious internal options right behind him.

That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now. the middle infield should clearly be murphy/baez the rest of the way, assuming murphy stays healthy and productive. if russell hasn't lost his starting job for the rest of the season, then it's because of joe being dumb. That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now.

You talking the remainder of this year? Have to think they stick with Murphy Baez up the middle Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now.

Russell, for better or for worse, is not in danger of "losing his job." At least not via someone already with the Cubs.
-
Nice job tonight, Kyle.

The guy just turned 24 3 weeks ago, he can play multiple positions well, and he's going to have put up 3+ fWAR in his first 250 games. He's not setting the world on fire, but to talk about him like he's a bust is a tad premature.
-
I mean, that's a given. It's not like their approach is, "yup, that Happ kid has it allllllllllllll figured out."
-
Snazzy Baez.

This seems like jumping the gun just a wee bit. Don’t disagree. It seems like he is one of the chips. Hasn’t been exactly killing it. This is a very confusing sequence of posts from you.

Just sucks we will get nothing for him. This seems like jumping the gun just a wee bit.
