  1. It's a crime that the Ted Lilly Fan Club no longer exists, if not just to at least react to Ted Lilly's actual crimes.
  2. That fan rushing the field and getting to the mound when he was out there and then having an oh horsefeathers moment when he realized Howry would beat his ass is still one my favorite all time Cubs moments Yeah, Howry looked like the horsefeathering T-1000, and it was awesome having a couple of dead-eyed psychos like him and Lilly always lurking in the shadows. His legacy got tainted by that last year with the Cubs, but he was baller as horsefeathers those first two years.
  3. Pretty much; I'm just not expecting him to even last TO the playoffs, much less into them.
  4. Dudes like that implode at a moment's notice. That you hope to get anything out of someone like him isn't the same as actually going after someone likely to bolster bullpen. It's mostly a happy accident that DLR has inexplicably been THAT good.
  5. Edited because I didn't see there was half a page of blowback already vented. how the eff are you guys thinking my comment was serious I'm cracking up over here.
  6. Tim's POV of the board:
  7. Only damning if you consider it true. Which it isn't. How whacked out on pills are you right now.
  8. Only if he doesn't want to be. Let me have my dreams.
  9. I'm always down to FJM, but it ain't happening. Though I am pretty confident he won't be with the Cubs after his contract is up next year.
  10. Plus that Mills guy seems pretty good. Is he? I've mostly just been assuming that the bullpen is made up largely of a pile of department store mannequins that fell off of a truck.
  11. Also: Hamels' advanced stats from his September starts are a tad...disconcerting.
  12. Damn, Ray s-s-s-suuuuuuuuuuucks against righties.
  13. That seems like a bit of an overreaction. I know nearly all of the innings came against the Reds and we really shouldn't be planning on Jorge de la Rosa shutting people down in the playoffs, but the Cubs bullpen hasn't even given up a run since Strop went down, in 8.2 IP. And I'm not sure if I'm ready to completely write Carl off just yet. He's had instances in the past of completely losing it and then reversing course and finding his groove again. And he has a 2.72 FIP and 2.39 ERA this year. Also, Justin Wilson has a 2.85 ERA this year. And Mike Montgomery will be added to the playoff bullpen, as well. It's not what we hoped to see, for sure. And our bullpen is definitely now one of our weaknesses. But it's not quite "Our starter has to pitch 8 innings" bad. I don't think anyone is completely writing off Carl; he's just unpredictable enough where he's a guy you have either think twice about using in a critical spot, or you have to have a really quick hook on him, and Joe doesn't seem to agree with either notions. I think pretty much everyone, however, would still agree he's a really valuable reliever.
  14. Alright, time for some sound, sound sleep.
  15. horsefeathers, that's terrible.
  16. Do the Cubs have 18 playoff dongs in them? Don't we have the most playoff dongs in baseball the last 3 years? PRE-CHILI.
