  1. TMan92 is up, but he hasn't responded to any PMs, and he's missed his spot at least once before. Andy, it'll fall to you if he doesn't show within a few hours of game time.
  2. I'd still love to get Machado, but only if he's gonna play 3B.
  3. Sure; it's just a disappointing when they put almost all of their eggs in that Super Offense basket, and then end up with this really....lopsided, inconsistent Super Offense. It's genuinely horsefeathering weird.
  4. Well I didn’t say he was worthless just wasn’t a budding superstar we once thought he was on the way to. If he’s an .820s OPS guy that’s fine but not exceptionally productive for a corner OF right? Could be wrong there He’s tied for 7th best OPS of qualified LFs this year with Benintendi at .828 and 10 more points would put him top 5. I know we want more but a low-mid .800 ops is plenty productive in LF this year. Sure, but a productive Just a Dude is still Just a Dude, and the hope was that he was going to be more than that. Plus is overall value this year is helped by likely unreliable defensive value. It's unfortunate that he had both such a catastrophic injury and such a down 2017, because it basically left the Cubs in the position to either sell way low or ride out and see what they had, and as such maybe not do things like go all out for a player Yelich.
  5. Because this type of abuse by men is ingrained deep, deep, deep down in...well, everything. It's like racism in that it's just such an inherent part of the power dynamics of our relationships that it leads to wondering things like this. Add in the factors of the abuser being someone famous and rich? Woof. The amount of fear and self-loathing and trauma that comes with abuse (and in the response to it being exposed/reported) is why sexual assault and spousal abuse are so dramatically under-reported. It takes a LOT to finally find what it takes to speak out against someone who has dominated them via fear and violence (and, again, the likely scorn, insults, anger and humiliation that comes along with being the person to speak out), so, yeah...it's really never a surprise when a guy doesn't get why a woman wouldn't go right to the police. The police and legal system have largely just tolerated, ignored or even fostered this power imbalance basically forever. Couple it with the abuser being a famous person that scores of people want to love and be a fan of? Forget about it. Abuser can be man or woman. My mother abused my sister and me for years. People never gave a horsefeathers. I remember hiding in closet as a 7 year old boy. Getting strap down and beaten. Abuse is not a man thing. It is a monster thing. So get this men bull horsefeathers out of your post. Abuser come in any sex. Abuse marks you forever and you can become a monster or to timid to do anything. But your post is a lot of [expletive]. Oh and Russell needs to be gone. Dude get your help but F him too. Abuse is not a male or female thing. Me and my sister can attest to that but my father almost went to jail because of people who think like you. He saved me and failed with my sister. She never truly recovered. Abuse is a person and not a sex. Nobody's saying women can't abuse people; this incident is specifically about a man abusing a woman, and this type of abuse is overwhelmingly done to women by men. I'm sorry you had to suffer what you went through.
  6. He's something that seems like a weird tangent, but really ties into what we're talking about in these last couple of posts: https://uproxx.com/hitfix/brie-larson-captain-marvel-smile-more/ Dudes expecting or telling women, often ones they don't even know, some variation of, "you should smile!" It's indicative of how random dudes think they have the ability or the obligation to try and control women, even if it's just someone they're passing on the street or in the hall. Women are just something that are there FOR them. It's not a stretch at all to see many, MANY things in Russell's life and his behaviors that show this is him. Dude probably cares more about his stupid ass Pokemon cards.
  7. Yeah, my interest in what they do the rest of this season pretty much nosedived into the ground.

  9. I really think some people need to stop talking about all of these guys like they're "just" these barely above monosyllabic neanderthals, and we don't have to hope or expect that they can figure out how to not say or do dumb horsefeathers. They're adults with brains.
  10. i need like 5 more wins before i feel that way Trust me, it has zero to do with how confident I am in them winning the division.
  11. Kinda suddenly went to really not feeling so bad seeing the Cubs getting their ass kicked. Weird.
  12. The only way it flies for me is if he is indeed taking a shot at how shitty and farcical these investigations tend to be, and even then it's, like, "dude; read a horsefeathering room."
  13. And your self-perceived ability to judge anyone based on isolated posts on a message board combined with your fragile sensitivity says much more about you. anybody can judge a moron that uses terms like sjw and calls disappointment outrage. Dude's now going off about "fragile sensitivity," too; stunned he didn't go for "snowflake." Remember: it's the guy furious that people are being too hard on Rizzo who are the overly sensitive and outraged ones.
  14. Not even remotely close to what I said. Takes some mental gymnastics to come remotely close to that conclusion. But what ever justifies your outrage at Rizzo... Keep flogging them buzzwords, baby. Nobody is "outraged" with Rizzo; just annoyed and disappointed that he doesn't at least know better than to go with some variation of "no comment" right now. Dude stuck his foot in his mouth and got called out for it. The rich and famous tinyfaced pro athlete is going to be FINE, relax.
  15. Russell and Chapman and Lackey? Who else? start at the top with the money behind the operations, papa rickets. Then you have that horsefeathers nebraskan politician ricket. Then you got your Maddon. Then you have the pitching coach Bosio who has since left and then got fired for having said some racist horsefeathers. Russell and Chapman sucks. Lackey is a red assed dick bird. Arrieta cheered on trump's arrival as much as anybody. And then of course you have David Ross, who everybody hates. Liked for the great capper.
  16. Like, I'm kind of impressed he was able to type so legibly and jack himself off so furiously at the same time.
  17. Yup; I've mentioned it before, but I had this completely wrong perception of him as, like, an old hippie type, but in somewhat more like a prime Phil Jackson-type of hippie mixed with Popovich. Granted, that's largely based on me paying almost no attention to the Rays and seeing, like, one ESPN piece on Maddon about how he would ride his bike to the park or some horsefeathers in Florida. I wasn't expecting the Cousin Eddie horsefeathers at all because I was completely in the dark about it, and I got sick of it pretty fast.
  18. horsefeathers like this is one of the reasons I long ago got tired of Maddon's dumb shtick. You don't have to horsefeathering be "on" all the time, and you DEFINITELY shouldn't be right now. Don't play like you're just dumb ol' kook.
  19. Love how we've had multiple people coming into this thread with, "BUT THEY'RE JUST OPINIONS" takes. Sizzlin'.
  20. Phew, thank goodness you've got your eyes on the prize here, Tim. He's also an atrocious human being, which is obviously more important. But not so much so that we apparently need to make sure to accurately give Addison Russell his advanced statistic-based value its due. God forbid someone say he sucks right now.
  21. Looks at this dude right here wailing about how "terrible" this thread is because nobody is taking into account the VERY IMPORTANT issue of clubhouse chemistry between Rizzo and accused abuser Addison Russell. THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE TO GRIPE ABOUT THOSE DAMN SJWS.
  22. Cubswin11 just wildly liking posts without reading them at all.
  23. Phew, thank goodness you've got your eyes on the prize here, Tim.
