  1. I wish I could fart all over this team.
  2. The Guinness ( your avatar) may have something to do with the gas No Guinness in weeks, sadly. Just some cereal, fruit and water today. The pain in my belly is all courtesy of the Cubs.
  3. Schlock Jones has returned. Shoulda traded him when he was hot, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
  4. The Cubs have given me both terrible gas and an awful headache.
  5. It wasn't supposed to be good this year, but nowhere near THIS bad.
  6. The most frustrating thing about the Cubs sucking this much is we'll never actually get to see a good Cubs team play one this awful.
  7. She is reflecting back to the period when the Cubs last won the World Series. :( Well played Only time you'll hear that on a Cubs' board today.
  8. Carlos' glory will outshine the stench of failure wafting from the lesser beings who dare to share the same uniform as Him. All praise be unto Carlos.
  9. Sooooooo...the guy hasn't pitched a start all year in the bigs. Has missed big chunks of the last 2 years, and is consistently on the Dl when the season begins...and people can't be wary or skeptical of how he'll perform? I doubt there's a person here who wouldn't love to see him back and being himself again. I myself would happily stand and applaud him. But until then, I'm gonna wait and see how he's gonna be like when he comes back. And even if he tanks, it's not like I'm "hating" the guy. I'll be disapointed, but hey, that's life. But until he comes back and shows he's at least close to being the old Prior, I'm going to remain skeptical. Implying that everyone should be nicey-nice and lovey-dovey because a player MIGHT check the board is ridiculous. He's a grown man. I'm sure he wants to pitch great infinitely more than the rest of us want to see it. But I'm also assuming he realizes he does have something to prove. That's just the nature of the game. If he doesn't realize that, well, he's in trouble.
  10. I would agree with that. Dunn would easily be our best hitting outfielder. He does have some major flaws in his game. I was just replying to the poster who said that the reason Dunn doesn't drive runs in was because nobody would get on in front of him. Will Dunn hit lots of home runs and also draw a bunch of walks for you? Of course. Is he going to drive a bunch of runs in? No, he's not. Are the home runs and walks worth the lack of other base hits, defense, or inability to move runners along? As a FA, sure. In a trade? I don't know how much I'd give up for him. No, I said he can't control who gets on base before him. Sure, his numbers could be higher with guys on, but ultimately he can't "decide" when to hit a HR, as some, especially Reds fans, seem to think. He should try and pay more attention to how he's being pitched to with people on, but bottom line, he can't make people get on base. Slamming him for not having more RBI's is along the lines of slamming D-Lee for not knocking more guys in last year. Sometimes a player can only do so much. Granted, the Reds are getting guys on base much better this year than the Cubs did last year for Lee, but guys getting on base doesn't automatically mean they're there for Dunn when he comes up to bat. And yeah, his numbers with runners could be higher, but this underlying sentiment of him not being that impressive is ridiculous. There's so much you can do with a player like him...his pluses far outweigh his faults.
  11. You killed it!
  12. Prior has proven nothing yet. Toby Keith is an insipid mongoloid. This thread stinks.
  13. Give him at least one more rehab start. Take no chances. Watch him like a hawk...if even the slightest thing seems "off," sweet Lord, shut him down! I couldn't take Prior becoming the next Wood...they need to work with kid gloves if necessary and get him back to the Prior greatness we all know and love for 2007. This year is not worth damaging him over...he and Z NEED to be the pitching anchors over the next few years.
  14. Dunn' homers may seem "meaningless" at times, but can you really fault the guy for it? He'll blast one out, walk or strike out most of the time...that's who he is. The Reds now are like the problem the Cubs had a few years back...all power and no small ball (which is ironic since the Cubs are all small ball and no power). Smart teams find a balance (it would be a nice change of pace at Wrigley, too). Dunn could be incredibly potent on a team that has people getting on base ahead of him. The man has no control over how well the other batters ahead of him do. He does what he does, and if his team hasn't planned to utilize him the right way, well, they screwed up. Reds fans jumping all over him for hitting too many solo shots because of this is absurd.
  15. Giving up on Prior already is madness. Ideally, he and Z are the anchors for a young pitching staff. Hendry needs to take the money from Wood and Maddux and sign another quality starter. Marshal and Marmol and Guzman can duke it out for the last 2 spots. I'm not relying on Miller for anything, and am going to act like he's never going to be around short of a miracle.
  16. I would have said no before, too, but damn, he's hitting like he is in RF-friggin'-K. That place is a cavern. If he can slam the ball there, I'd love to see him at Wrigley.
  17. Now every time I picture Prior and Wood, I can only see them having those old time-y handlebar moustaches.
  18. "Modern day?"
  19. Rusch is being skipped...Marshall, Maddux and Zambrano! Victory is ours!
  20. Less time pitchin', more time eatin'. It's win-win for everyone!
  21. I'm clinging to the luggage rack for dear life!
  22. We must remember, what the rest of us call "abuse," Carlos only looks upon as a gentle spring shower whilst prancing through a field of tulips.
  23. Only 99,999 more people to go! I'm in!
  24. I really like the bullpen.
  25. Ass, gas or grass! Er, actually, nevermind that first one around here...and I have a feeling the gas part isn't going to be the gas I need...and the third...anyone wanna mow my lawn?
