  1. What could possibly convince you of that? Even with the "improved" offense, they're still 2-8 in the last 10 games with Lee back. These guys stink in any form until serious changes are made.
  2. Jim Hendry: Give us Broadway and Fields and you got a deal. You don't want to trade with the White Sox unless we fleece them... we get it. You're right. Some other team, (NOT the Cardinals) for Williamson, I'd command a AAA player 1-2 years away. It's inevitable that you're going to start saying the Sox and Cards have cooties. Just give in to the urge.
  3. Please stop calling him by his name. The man is "[expletive]."
  4. If that's true, the man should be running the whole friggin' league.
  5. Being a Cubs fan doesn't give you cancer. Yet.
  6. "Heart" is for pansies, elves and hippies. Man up and play some damn baseball.
  7. I have no problem with what he said, and I agree with him...I'm just terrified of the idea of him opting out and the Cubs end up even worse than they are now. Oh, 'lizabeth! It's the big one!
  8. Does this mean 2007 will be randomly and agonizingly awesome?
  9. Oh God, Razor Shines would rule, just for the name alone...I figure either Rothschild gets singled out and gets the boot since he was brought in before Dusty, or he goes with Dusty and his boys. There's no way Dusty goes and Clines and Sarge stay. Either way, Rothschild is done, though I'm worried he may be the only one at this point.
  10. In his case, that stands for "eating-ruined arteries."
  11. I'm not saying he should be run out of town, but I REALLY hope he gets traded for somebody decent soon. Talk like this just makes it more likely he bails at the end of this year and the Cubs get squat.
  12. Nah...it had been discussed here in the past just for fun more than anything else, but that's about it. Bruce Miles pretty much put the kibosh on the whole deal, and I think the man knows his stuff.
  13. Though he did speak up enough to say he thought he was a "#6 type hitter"...and oh, how we and the local press mocked. Curses! He's a No. 2 hitter now. When did they move him into that slot? I could swear he started doing well for Baltimore hitting down in the lineup. He bats seventh in the line up. Now I feel less crazy. Thanks.
  14. I'm completely missing your point. So Patterson's imrpovements are, what, solely the result of things he did by himself? Change of scenery? Crab cakes? Magic?
  15. Though he did speak up enough to say he thought he was a "#6 type hitter"...and oh, how we and the local press mocked. Curses! He's a No. 2 hitter now. When did they move him into that slot? I could swear he started doing well for Baltimore hitting down in the lineup.
  16. Anything short of Lee and Z tearing limbs off of everyone in sight will leave me unsatisfied.

  18. So Aramis basically expects the pitchers to keep opposing teams to 1 or 2 runs or less every single game? Because given the offense the overwhelming bulk of this season, that's what they'd have to do for this team to win.
  19. If only this was going to be a sweep at home. Much better chance of a firing then. I can't believe this season is barely half over.
  20. Werd. That's why the first reply in this thread was me saying "Bwuahaha". There's no way on earth that A-Rod would accept a trade to the Cubs, and the Yankees wouldn't unload him anyway, especially not for a group of inept Cubs players. Alright, we'll be more careful and defer to the elders next time. Sorry for the trouble, sir.
  21. Definitely. They were talking like he'd be back by June, so it looks like the ball was dropped in that regard.
  22. I agree with signing Neifi for cheaper, but I don't know, the Miller thing just doesn't bug me. If he can get to or near his career numbers or show some spark in the bullpen, that million is money well spent. If he doesn't do anything, hey, that lone million wasn't going to be used any more productively. Neifi's five has a much better chance of keeping or signing people this team really needed...ah well. Such is the life of a Cubs fan.
  23. Miller is down for just 1 for 1...if he works out, he can potentially earn more. Neifi is down for 2.5. for 2, and you know his this team is run he's getting the full ride. Again, Miller has a decent career to justify his deal. Neifi has...what, exactly? Decent defense and one of the worst bats in the history of the game?
