    Why would Dusty come out and say, "yep, I'll be gone in a week or two. Screw you, losers!" The guy no doubt wants to coach somewhere else. Handling the loss of his job undiplomatically doesn't help him there.

    I luckily clicked to the game on EI about 2 seconds before he stole, and it was so glorious I jumped up and dropped the remote and sent the batteries flying.

    Maybe Aram had those horrible at-bats and strikeouts tonight trying to prove a point, and it backfired when Marshall pitched so well.

    Huh...this is kinda cool. It's great to see Marshall have such a great performance...though it's [expletive] to see the rest of the team blow multiple scoring chances yet again. Good ol' heart attack Dempster...it was nice his breaking ball decided to show up again when he used it to strike out Lamb. The closer role is such a mental one, hopefully holding a close game like this, however scarily, can help boost him back up.

    I wouldn't surprise me at all to hear him talk like this, nor does it overly concern me, especially with the hope that we've got some new bosses rolling in. Like people are saying, he's very young and has been looked at as THE future of this wretched team almost from the moment he got here. There's a lot of press focus on him, not just local, both positive and good. People are constantly criticizing him for being too soft or injured too much or over praising him as being the next coming of Jesus on the pitching mound. Add the crappy coaching, the heartbreak of 2003 and the freak injuries on top of it all and that's a hell of a ride for a guy's who is still a young adult. Yeah, these guys need to be tough, but it's not like he's copping out...he's just being honest. I'm all for letting him take the time to ease back into things mentally and physically. This year is not worth it...he can be an anchor for years if given a little more patience until 2007.

    Don't trade them unless we get a really, really, really good offer. These are 2 guys I want on my team in 2007. And to the White Sox and Cardinals, they should be 100% off-limits. Please give us one good, legitimate reason that makes sense to anyone beyond puberty.

    What could possibly convince you of that? Even with the "improved" offense, they're still 2-8 in the last 10 games with Lee back. These guys stink in any form until serious changes are made.

    Jim Hendry: Give us Broadway and Fields and you got a deal. You don't want to trade with the White Sox unless we fleece them... we get it. You're right. Some other team, (NOT the Cardinals) for Williamson, I'd command a AAA player 1-2 years away. It's inevitable that you're going to start saying the Sox and Cards have cooties. Just give in to the urge.

    I have no problem with what he said, and I agree with him...I'm just terrified of the idea of him opting out and the Cubs end up even worse than they are now. Oh, 'lizabeth! It's the big one!

    Oh God, Razor Shines would rule, just for the name alone...I figure either Rothschild gets singled out and gets the boot since he was brought in before Dusty, or he goes with Dusty and his boys. There's no way Dusty goes and Clines and Sarge stay. Either way, Rothschild is done, though I'm worried he may be the only one at this point.

    I'm not saying he should be run out of town, but I REALLY hope he gets traded for somebody decent soon. Talk like this just makes it more likely he bails at the end of this year and the Cubs get squat.

    Nah...it had been discussed here in the past just for fun more than anything else, but that's about it. Bruce Miles pretty much put the kibosh on the whole deal, and I think the man knows his stuff.

    Though he did speak up enough to say he thought he was a "#6 type hitter"...and oh, how we and the local press mocked. Curses! He's a No. 2 hitter now. When did they move him into that slot? I could swear he started doing well for Baltimore hitting down in the lineup. He bats seventh in the line up. Now I feel less crazy. Thanks.
