  1. OK, I have no interest in ripping Hill or "proving" that he sucks...some of you are talking like you're enjoying him doing badly. I'm more concerned that he's hurt...I'm probably just overreacting, but isn't this like his 3rd or 4th "iffy" start in a row?
  2. Lee would make an awesome, AWESOME #2 hitter at this point. I'm still hoping his HR power comes back...but when? He can still hit, but that #3 mashing doesn't seem to be there.
  3. Most people like Marmol as a reliever because he has 2 pitches and is prone to control issues. As a reliever, he can be taken out if his control is off, and that option is not available as a starter. Add to that the extra velocity on his fastball as a reliever, and it adds up to the possibility of developing into a good starter while being a very good reliever right now. Gotcha. Thanks!
  4. What the hell is with so many people talking like Dempster has been having a crappy year as a closer? Don't get me wrong, I love what Marmol has done and think he could easily be a better, cheaper and more consistent closer than Dempster for years to come, but some people here are talking like he's replacing some reign of terror with Dempster as a closer. And I guess I'm missing something with Marmol...why is there zero talk of him starting? I don't know much about him outside of what little I saw last year...does he have injury issues? Does he fall apart after 3-4 innings?
  5. I'm more worried about tomorrow than Sunday. Marquis will probably give up 3-4 to their offense, but I think the offense has a good chance to do that to Bush as well. I'm not sure what they are going to do against Sheets-he has allowed only 6 runs in his last 5 outings combined. The Cubs beat Sheets earlier in the year, scoring 5 ER, when he was coming off of a complete game 2 hitter (1 R). We'll see what happens tomorrow but I am encouraged by the Cubs hitting of late. True, but that was basically a bad inning for Sheets and then he locked it down. Granted, sometimes you just need that one bad inning, but it's not like the Cubs were hitting him all game.
  6. To be fair, so could a diseased tree stump.
  7. Let's ask again after the Brewers. If they don't at least win the series, that's a pretty big setback. Not necessarily season-ending, but it'll really hurt.
  8. HOLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Welcome to the bigs, Billy!
  9. Oh, Billy...Billy, Billy, Billy, BillyBillyBilly...
  10. Me too. Ditto. He's obviously playing way above his head, but he's likely a better shot at being an everyday player than Theriot.
  11. That dude in the stand needs to invest in sleeves.
  12. 7 stolen bases?!? Wow.
  13. I know I talk about trading the guy a lot, but I am so glad that the currently freakin' awesome Z is pitching today. The guy is no doubt ultra-pumped to get us our 2nd sweep in a row before those damn Brewers roll into town...of course, the flipside of that is I can see Carlos melting down if a few things don't go his way. Please focus, Z. You don't have to be perfect. Just lock it down.
  14. Hopefully. Even with the mini-shenanigans last night, I'd like to see Marmol in the closer role in the meantime.
  15. So speaketh the White Sox fan. Eth.
  16. hahaha...posts of the night...mojo I'll salute your grammar cuz i kno the feelin of ten minutes to type a paragraph It's an uphill battle, but my nerdish devotion to grammar will win! I'm staring at the keyboard like a 'tard and slamming the Backspace key until it cries. CUBS WIN!
