  1. Pretty much split down into 3 different categories, actually: 1) Overuse 2) Marmol isn't sharp when he isn't used much, especially when he has several days off before an outing. 3) It simply was going to come eventually. Marmol is a guy with nasty stuff, and has had control problems in the past. 1 or 2 times he's not going to be able to locate either of his pitches and just absolutely blow up. I've seen people with all 3 interpretations. I tend to believe number 3, although I'm open to both of the others being contributing factors. If it was a full month or two from now, fine, overuse would make more sense, but June isn't even done. He's been used a lot, but if this that "broke" him already...come on. And to just suddenly break down like that with the season not even halfway over? If that's the case, he was an injury wating to happen no matter what. I'm inclined to think, ironically, that it was the excessive rest. He's already shown that he's rusty coming into games where he's had a couple days or more off in between appearances.
  2. SIGH. Well, hopefully this lights a fire for them to beat the holy hell out of the White Sox.
  3. EPIC, AMAZING, PANTS-WETTING COMEBACK BEGINS NOW.
  4. This is true and I know how misinformed and petty this must sound, but good god, did it have to be the RAYS, of all teams? Eh...it's a team we rarely see or have to deal with. I think it would suck much more coming at the hands of a regular rival.
  5. Ah well, the Cubs were gonna get swept eventually. At least it happened at the hands of one of the few genuinely good teams in baseball.
  6. Those teams all suck Man, the NL blows.
  7. Man, and off of our two best relievers besides Wood this season, too. It's very striking how rusty Marmol has been this year after getting more than one game off. Broken record, I know.
  8. Wow, I got up with the bases loaded to go make some dinner and come back to...this. Yeesh. Get back to Wrigley, boys.
  9. Though ironically he seems to suffer when he gets excessive rest.
  10. He definitely seems to be off if he sits more than one day.
  11. ... IMB! is making more and more sense. I understand his point, however us Cub fans are used to the worst crap happening to us. We've sustained to bad injuries in the past few weeks, and our pitching just isn't up to par with some of the other rotations out there. We're playoff bound, but I'd be so much more comfortable with the juggernaut type of team we were in the first 1.5 months of the season. So we have no good positive history to draw off of and thats why we're all for the most part pessimistic about our baseball team. Except few teams are dominant over the complete season. And the Cubs have had tons of breaks go their way this season that has helped put them where they are.
  12. I'm shooting for the moon: Cubs score 4 runs in the 7th.
  13. ... IMB! is making more and more sense.
  14. Lee 3-3 with his 3rd single. IT'S TIME TO RISE, ARAMIS.
  15. Just thank God we wont be back in this God awful place for a very, very long time. How does October sound? Pass. While I'll take the Cubs in the WS against anyone, I'd much rather it be another team with some history.
  16. Hoofah. The Cubs were looking like they'd get to Shields, but he's locking it down. What is his pitch count?
  17. Call it over reacting if you want, but I just feel outmatched. Its almost as though they watched 0 game tape of this team. "Outmatched?" They've lost each game by 1.
