Indeed and any other prospect as well. Gallagher, "The Shark", Veal, Pie, Murton, Patterson, Colvin, Rhee, let them take their pick of any two or three. Don't forget that young catcher that's doing well, too.
Remember that time that Cardinals relief pitcher plowed into the back of a pickup truck and died? Or that other Cardinals pitcher who died of an undetected heart condition in his sleep the night before his next start? Man, that team is just so insanely lucky.

Yeah, the reports of AJ being a "douche" are highly exaggerated. For some reason everybody hates him, but during interviews and such, he's just like any other ballplayer. I honestly don't know where the anger started. I would assume it has mostly to do with his attitude and actions during games. He's a very "strategically" emotional player. The man is no dummy...he knows when he wants to get a rise or reaction out of the people around him. I can't think of too may, if any, off field moments that make me dislike him, but I can think of plenty on the field. At the same time, they make me also appreciate him as a player.
Not a bad idea if Edmonds falls off of a cliff, literally or baseball-wise. He's pretty good against righties (hideous against lefties, especfially this year), so he'd make a very solid platoon with Johnson in CF...but he's a LFer. Hasn't he only played a handful of games in CF? Ironically, he's basically the realistic ideal for Pie offensively at this point, just likely much worse defensively if he plays CF.
I know all the blather about how Dempster hasn't "won on the road yet," but there's really no excuse not to win this with as good as he's been (and continually better) and as awful as Contreras has been his last few starts.
Release him. I'm continually baffled as to why the Cubs can't seem to grasp that concept. With a year and a half left on his deal? As I understand the rules, if he is claimed by another team we will have to pay the lion's share of his contract. The only way to get out from under his ocntract in full is to trade him or for him to clear waivers such that he can be released. I guess I was just trying to make myself feel better, because I was positive this was the last year of his deal. I have no idea why I thought he was signed a year before Lilly. Wishful thinking, I guess.
Anyone going out of their way to "hate" him is just being ridiculous at this point. Him rediscovering some of his power has definitely helped lessen the blow of missing Sori's bat.
