  1. Baseball hates Michael Barrett.
  2. Sounds as accurate as the mayor's recent estimate of the number of homeless in the city.
  3. He struck the first two guys out. Given his recent struggles, that's probably got him pumped up, so when he walks the next guy, he just wants to finish the next batter off and starts overthrowing and serves up some tasty meatballs.
  4. Seriously? Watch the replay...he served up one of the meatiest meatballs that ever meated.
  5. Stone would be a huge upgrade over Brenly. Just an FYI, you misspelled "downgrade."
  6. Lee has also been putting up very good numbers over that time. Getting Aramis and Johnson back on top of that is gonna be big. I'd rather have Soriano back than Johnson. Soriano, Edmonds, Fukudome. Well, yeah, obviously, but unless you have some secret sorcery that's going to make that happen way ahead of schedule, I'm looking optimistically at what the Cubs are actually getting back this week.
  7. I'd still take the corpse of Rich Hill over Jason Marquis. Or, better yet, Zombie Rich Hill.

  9. I hope there are players are still juicing. The game wouldn't be half as awesome as it is without them.
  10. If he's "broken" already at this stage, he was never meant to be.
  11. Marmol's been getting tons of rest lately. He'll get even more if he keeps crapping the bed.
  12. The pitch just held me down, kicking and screaming, and showed me the business.
  13. Hey, Cobs. You need 3 outs to end an inning, not 2.
  14. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. And is only under contract for 3 more months. How long has it been since the Cubs won? Who cares if we lose Sabbathia if that brings them closer to a WS which it will. Yes, it will bring us closer to a World Series for one season, then hurt our chances over the next several years. I think we have a better chance of winning a World Series in the next 5 years if we don't "go for it" to that extreme. I think people aren't realizing how bad our pen could be without a good Marmol anyways. I agree. Marmol is cheap and provided he gets it back together, can be a dominant piece of our bullpen which is very uncertain for the future. Sabathia is likely a rental who improves our chances this year and this year only. Best case scenario, the draft picks help us out in 3-6 years. You guys are talking about a reliever. Yes, a potentially lights out, top shelf reliever at a low cost when the future around much of your bullpen is completely up in the air. That's the nature of bullpens. You don't hang up far more important parts of your team around it.

  16. I would in a heartbeat. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. Marmol is great, but not a Cy Young candidate. Are you crazy? What, you trade a very young and dominant relief pitcher just because he has a couple of bad weeks? For a guy as good as Sabathia, yes without thinking. No kidding. If a reliever can net you a critical position player or starting pitcher and your bullpen is still decent or better without him, you trade him.
  17. He was used every game the first couple months. Not surprising that he's fallen a bit. That's total B.S., but I guess facts really aren't welcome in this thread right now. Marmol was on pace for 100+ IP well into June, it's likely he was being overworked. Yeah, but if the workload he's had until now "broke" him, that's pretty pathetic. It's not like he even sniffed the danger zone some people were hemming and hawing over.
  18. I would in a heartbeat. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. Marmol is great, but not a Cy Young candidate. Yeah, I've brought up Marmol trades all season with my buddies. If anything, I'm pissed his recent miscues could lower his value somewhat, even though Hendry would never have the balls to trade him.
  19. Because they're usually wrong and he starts a ton of them?
  20. Absolutely brutal ownage and epic failing in this thread.
  21. That's not why he fell off.
