  1. Is there any chance SF might be interested in dealing Cain?
  2. I'd prefer for them to be actually dominating as opposed to just 3.5 games up two other teams in the division.
  3. Agreed. I have no reason to doubt she worked for the team...it's just the conemnations of so many people there and their quality as "human beings" that seem really ridiculous and melodramatic.
  4. She's the only one that brought up the idea of being "excluded from the boys' club."
  5. no, it doesn't, but you know that they are going to make a move to fix this too... Hopefully that'll work like it did last year.
  6. 100% agree. Cotts has been very good. Eyre was also doing very well up until just before he went on the DL. It'll be nice if the Cubs can have two lefties in the bullpen who can shut things down.
  7. Am I nuts for thinking the NL has a decent shot this year? The AL seems more bogged down with crappy fan-favorite choices, plus all but ignoring the Rays really helps.
  8. Today's game represent the difference between a 3.5 game lead and a 1.5 game lead. that is correct. Still, the 3.5 is a lot better. Still, lets just beat them because their the damn Cardinals. Watching them celebrate last night made me want to throw up and smash the TV, and considering I caught that last half inning at my favorite sushi bar, I probably wouldnt have been invited back, Maybe you actually wanted to smash up and thow the TV.
  9. Am I missing something obvious here where the answer could somehow be something other than "of course"? Yeah, I guess you are. If getting Sabathia means clearing out all of our valuable prospects, I am not sure he is worth it. I am not saying no, I just think it is an interesting question. Yes, but you hinged it on whether or not Sabathia is "that much better" than Burnett, and I would respond, even without anyone even knowing exactly what "that much better" actually is, yes, Sabathia is easily that much better than Burnett, and then some. What is the appeal of Burnett at this point? His numbers have generally been medicore to awful for a while now, and he's got a serious injury history. His only appeal would be in bumping Marquis, but looking at Burnett's numbers, is that even all that appealing? I'd argue anyone of value used to get Burnett is much more of a waste than the boatload it would take to land Sabathia. The last 3 years he's had an ERA+ of 115, 115, and 119. Each of those years he's had an ERA under 4, with 2 of those season in the AL East. I think he's very likely to have a good second half, the only thing that really worries me is his injuries. I think it would be stupid not to get him considering it will barely cost anything, player wise. I don't see who else we can get, unless the Braves or Astros are looking to deal Hudson or Oswalt. I still think we really need to snatch up Milton Bradley. If Brunett can be had with Cedeno basically as the centerpiece, hey, go nuts. If it costs anything significant, like Marshall, who some have tossed out, then no. Burnett has way too many red flags for the money he costs. I definitely agree with getting MB, and have wanted him for the Cubs for a while now.

  12. Good God, Burnett's numbers over the last year are horrid. Just say no.
  13. which we almost got, were it not for a Fontenot homer. Maybe, it is time to re-evaluate just how good this team really is. And we might have swept if Theriot got a hit on Tuesday night and Marmol didn't give up a 3 run HR on Thursday. A sign somebody has to come off the ledge. So at what point should we start to worry about the other teams in the division? Once they have passed us? Don't look at me, I've been well documented as worried about the Brewers since they were about 9 games out of first. You probably should start to worry about the Cardinals too. They have hung through half a season. Nah. I'd bet my house that the Cardinals don't make the playoffs.
  14. Jeez, thanks for rubbing it in showing a closer getting out out of a 1 run, bases loaded, 1 out jam.
  15. Come again? At least 75% of the time, the exact opposite of what LLF thinks is the right idea.
  16. Now is a key time for Aramis and Edmonds to actually contribute in this series.
  17. Aramis, this is day is primo for you to bust out of your slump.
