  1. But you aced martyrdom.
  2. God [expletive] dammit. Literally everyone and anyone with the team right now would be better hitting #2.
  3. $40 million would buy a lot of flapjacks.
  4. Because it's a waste of time. All you have to do is look at Fox and it's plain as day that in no sane world will he be able to be a passable middle infielder. And yes, it would be horrible to have Fox as a fulltime OFer, 3rd baseman or catcher. He has been more than adequate so far at every position they have placed him at (except maybe C). He is not going to win a gold glove, but based on his play so far in the field he is definitely not horrible. He's definitely been tolerable in the very limited sample size so far. The only position he's come even remotely close to playing enough times to make a judgement call on is 3B and even that he hasn't really played for any significant amount of time. I'm not adverse at all for him to get the start when Aramis, Bardley or Soriano get their days off. I would never want to see him as anything more than the emergency catcher when it comes to being behind the plate. He was truly horrendous as a fulltime catcher before and I seriously doubt he's just "switched it on" in regards to the most important defensive position on the field besides the pitcher. That said, I would not be adverse to him playing catcher in the Fall or Winter Leagues since he at least has experience there and maybe he could shore things up even just a little bit where he could perhaps be the backup catcher if the Cubs still have him next year. That makes infinitely more sense than plunking him in as a middle infielder.

  6. NSBB has jumped the shark. This is some primo, classic Cubs.com [expletive] right here that should be dogpiled.
  7. There hasn't been a player-manager in a long time and I think Fox would be just the guy to bring it back and when I say "play" I mean he'll be batting in 4 spots in the lineup and when I say "manage" I mean he'll be the manager and the GM it'll be great.
  8. How is it a terrible idea to just try it out in meaningless games after the season? If it doesn't work, he'll probably just come off the bench again next year or be part of a trade package. This isn't set in stone. Because he in no way a middle infielder. So if that's the case, then we find out in the Arizona Fall League and reassess. No harm done. I just don't see the downside here in trying him in exhibition games after the regular season is over. Plenty of harm done. There's essentially zero upside because there's next to no chance of it paying off into him actually becoming a serviceable middle infielder. It's much smarter to play him at the positions then that he can at least passably or almost passably play. Let him play what he knows and focus on keeping up the offensive output.
  9. How is it a terrible idea to just try it out in meaningless games after the season? If it doesn't work, he'll probably just come off the bench again next year or be part of a trade package. This isn't set in stone. Because he in no way a middle infielder. That ship sailed a long time ago when he was Li'l Fox. If they want to be trade bait play him where you can best minimize his defensive shortcomings. Learning an entirely new positon and having to lose a bunch of weight to do so also has a good chance of being a pretty big speedbump in him maintaining his offensive success, too. All around this is a terrible, terrible, exceptionally stupid idea and would be a complete waste of time.
  10. I have not missed Miles. If Shark is kept over Stevens, there will be blood.
  11. The biggest factor that whill determine the success or failures of the bullpen is Lou. This is by no means an ideal bullpen, but it is certainly serviceable yet Lou stubbornly and inexplicably keeps shooting himself in the foot. The smartest thing would be to keep Gregg as the closer and adjust accordingly depending on how tight the game is and who the Cubs are playing. The smartest thing to do would be to make Guzman and Marshall the go to guys to put out fires. The smartest thing to do would be to only use Heilman to start an inning and never with runners on. The smartest thing to do would be to minimize using Marmol in high leverage situations for the time being. All of these things are perfectly doable, yet are tremendously unlikely to occur as reguarly as they should because of Lou.
  12. It's not even that, it's a joke. So the team that wouldn't consider signing Adam Dunn to play terrible OF defense thinks they can get away with Fox's horrific defense at 2nd base? It really is mind boggling how some people are assuming that Fox continuing anything even remotely close to his current offensive protection while playing a totally new position is somehow likely.
  13. This is a terrible idea.
  14. Do you even follow baseball? Go look at their stats and their contracts and try and type this sentence again with a straight face. Gregg has an ERA under 4 and he kicked ass in June and July. Suddenly he has two bad games and all this kneejerk [expletive] comes out. People like you are an embarrassment to our fan base. Try and stay level for at least one day, please. IMB! spittin fire! :clapping: I find it amusing that someone like IMB is calling ME an embarrassment. Find a mirror, pal. Actually, IMB! is a pretty intelligent guy when it comes to baseball. I enjoy reading his input in sports topics. And most of the time he's not talking about sports he's hilarious and obviously tongue-in-cheek. Note how erik completely ignored the point that was made.
  15. I think it's the lack of range/arm as a SS and his consistent lackluster base running everyone doesn't like. He's a decent hitter, yes, but isn't a very good SS and is just dumb on the bath paths. Pretty much.
  16. If Theriot was on a rival team, I'm sure I'd hate him too. If Theriot were on a rival team I'd constantly forget he even existed.
  17. Blargh, glad I ended up having to work through that final game against the Marlins. Make up for it with this series, jerks.
  18. What did Nunez do? I missed the game. Top of the 10th he ran over to cover 1st on a Hill grounder and Hill brushed him as he ran past the bag. Nunez then proceeded to stare down Hill as everyone went to their dugouts.
  19. Damn, that sounded good. They're getting good shots at these pitches. Hopefully they keep it up and bust through.
  20. Whoa, I somehow shocked him into actually using proper grammar and coherrent sentences. Weird.
  21. This [expletive] game is [expletive] exhausting.
  22. Is it the old people? Everything. Every trip I've had down there has been miserable.
  23. Brenly is the best. Wow, that strike 2 was nasty. More, please.
