  1. Should we go look up your posts on Jim Edmonds? Wait, wasn't Roast in middle school when he was making those posts? Boosh.
  2. We certainly need to stick with that 1-2. I'd like to think Lou was paying attention but he'll probably just focus on that they lost and think he needs to rearrange again.
  3. So the 1-2 guys have been on, what 6 out 7 AB's tonight?
  4. Oh, hey, it's the [expletive] Spark. Must be nice having non-midget middle infielders.
  5. I'm getting really tired of seeing teams putting things together against the Cubs with 2 outs.
  6. And what are basing this on? Look around baseball and look at who the GM's are year after year. Hendry really isn't that bad so that a replacement would be likely to be significantly better than him or even better at all in the big picture.
  7. I've expressly said that I don't want to keep Hendry only for that reason either. I just hope nobody is really thinking getting a Theo Epstein-type as GM is really all that likely. I would love it if that happened...sadly it seems like the thing that happens all too rarely across baseball.
  8. It's usually a pretty good indicator of it though. Barring a ton of injuries. Here's the top 3 payrolls from last year and where they finished in their division. Yankees - 3rd place Tigers - LAST PLACE Mets - 2nd place And the Yankees and Tigers had a ton of injuries. And the Cubs haven't this year?
  9. And again, the season is not play only or mostly against the thrifty teams in the NL Central or thrifty teams in general. Just beacause a team spends 110 million doesn't make them a lock to beat up on teams spending in, say, the 70-90 million range.
  10. Are you confident that whoever is brought in to replace him will be better? (I'm not asking this with the idea that Hendry should be kept on just because his replacement is likely to be as bad or worse)
  11. Most of the GMS could win if they got 110 million and thier opponents got 60 million. That's a false point since it makes like the 110 million team is only playing 60 million teams or worse. How many teams do we play every year that spend as much as us? 2 maybe 3? So a team should be all but a lock to beat any team that spends less? What if they spend a million less? 3? 5? 10? It's not as cut and dry as you're trying to make it.
  12. This. Hendry is by no means my ideal choice for GM, but I'm not expecting whoever replaces him is likely going to be better. He'll just be different kinds of bad.

  14. I like how you say that like it's crazy. I like how you've never ever been wrong once. Ever. Oh come on. Hendry is NOT a "bottom-5 GM" No one is talking about a 'few good trades' absolving him from anything. He has built a team that won back to back division championships and going into this season - on paper - the cubs were still one of the best teams in baseball. Yes, he makes mistakes (Say, Aaron Miles) but bottom 5? Please. He also was in a division the last two years where he spent a lot more money than anyone else. That's no guarentee of success.
  15. Money can mask a lot of flaws. But honestly if you were going to build a team from scratch it would take a few years to get the team you want in order to play your way. How the hell do you ever do that if you change your way every year? I could live with a few rebuilding years if we actually got someone in here who knew what the hell he was doing. The odds of which are terrible.

  17. I like how you say that like it's crazy. It is. A few good trades does not absolve him from the other absolutely brutal moves he's made. Didn't say they do, but he's not bottom 5.
