  1. Distraction for who? People honestly think his comments or behavior are impacting the performances of the other players?
  2. The logical thing would he's back next year plugged into the #2 spot. He's shown he can perform with the fans hating him, so who gives a crap what they think? It's not like a significant number are going to stop buying tickets or merchandise because of Milton Bradley. There's simply not an actual need to trade him.
  3. I think he means right now, Soriano is done for the year and Bradley is always in flux, so the spot spots are "up for grabs" for the remainder of the year. This is true. Though Fox has been horrendous in the OF, so if they do intend on trading him it's not necessarily the best idea to have him out there looking bad coupled with his decline at the plate. Not that this is going to let the Cubs pull a fast one. Whatever, Fox isn't that good and Lou is an idiot. It's a perfect storm of suck either way.
  4. Both corner OF spots are "up for grabs?" What, is Soriano somehow getting traded before next season?
  5. Is this his last year in Chicago? I have to believe that it is. This upcoming offseason is going to make the last offseason look like the best thing ever.
  6. No, never. In the last decade it's been Cubs and Cardinals only. Twasn't the question. 'Tis also a shittay division in that time, so that shouldn't be surprise.
  7. DeRosa at his age and with his wrist will be happy to consider anyone dumb enough to pay him.
  8. The most frustrating thing about that article is that it made me think yet again about what maybe could have been if he had batted mostly RH this season.
  9. Hmmmm, I meant "add-on," but I must have been distracted by the thought of Fox facing any kind of offspeed pitch and slipped.
  10. You'll try and put your evil inside of me.
  11. There's little reason to trade him since he's not going to net much of anything because he's not good enough to do so and what little value he has is best served in coming off the bench next season. He has little or no trade value by himself, but packaged with others he might be an interesting pickup for an AL team. Eh, the Cubs are, for better or for worse, basically locked up at all of the positions except for either SS or 2nd (ideally both). They could trade for a starting pitcher, but the pitching prospects are going to be in demand for that well before Fox and he'd be a minor ass-on at best. Fox ultimately isn't going to attract too much attention in a deal for the very few players the Cubs would be looking for. I'd rather they just keep Fox as a bench player instead of going out and wasting money on one as in years past.
  12. Doing shots with Lou.
  13. Awesome, you're such a badass. NO, I WILL NOT MAKE OUT WITH YOU.
  14. Eh, we already had to suffer through Eckstein winning the MVP. That's pretty much the depths of baseball insanity. Anyone else is a huge upgrade.
  15. See? NEVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
  16. That was actually a fun game to watch. I love a good pitcher's duel.
  17. There's little reason to trade him since he's not going to net much of anything because he's not good enough to do so and what little value he has is best served in coming off the bench next season.
  18. Batting Theriot as leadoff is always pretty dumb.
  19. I WILL SETTLE FOR NOTHING LESS THAN ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD AND MARV FROM HOME ALONE AS THE PITCHING COACH.
  20. I like my team hard-drinkin', hard-fightin' and hard-fartin'.
  21. Prior to 2006, DeRosa was a career role player who was given an opportunity to start in Texas and made the most out of it. That earned im a big contract, that was ill advised at the time. It payed off, and it made Hendry look good. Similarly, prior to 2008, Aaron Miles was a career role player who had a pretty good year last year after getting a lot of playoff time. Hendry thought he could try the same thing, with a smaller contract. We all know how that turned out. In seasons with at least 100 AB's DeRosa was 4-for-6 in having an .700+ OPS before singing with the Cubs. Miles, using the same criteria, was 1-for-5. Also DeRosa always drew a decent amount of walks per at-bat while Miles never did. There is a big difference between the two. Miles you knew he was below average and just hoped he could play up to being an average player. DeRosa was an average player that you hoped could play up to being good. And yet again, Miles was not signed to replace DeRosa on his own. DeRosa was signed to be a fulltime player. Miles was not. This isn't excusing the signing of Miles or justifying how bad he's been, but it's disengenuous to stack the two up as if the Cubs were expecting the two to have the same role.
  22. THE SCARS MAY HEAL BUT MY HEART NEVER WILL.
  23. Could have all been avoided if they had bothered to keep Harden on normal rest all year (with some skipped starts) like they had said they wanted to do before the season, but hey, why stick to a logical decision?
  24. Until recently it was a pretty excellent year for him. It was a good year, certainly a nice rebound from his 2008, but I wouldnt call it excellent, especially considering his expectations when first coming over. I'd say a top 4-5 center fielder in all of baseball is pretty excellent. Not by the ridiculous expectations LLF posted here.
