  1. Seems like the story cancels itself out.
  2. Agreed with the middle infield. I'd love to get Hudson or Uggla and trade Fontenot. I'll pass on Crisp, I think injuries have taken their toll on him. I'd just go with Fuld/Colvin instead of signing a guy like Crisp or Pods. Fuld/Colvin should be nothing but an absolute last resort. That's a horrible option. If a Church/Reed platoon could be had cheaper than Byrd I definitely could tolerate that, but how realistic is it that the two of them together would be cheaper then Byrd? I really think people need to stop wanting DeRosa back. Old, bad year, wrist injury...bad combo. He's not a good option offensively or defensively at this point. Along those lines I definitely agree with not wanting Crisp. Too much of a risk.
  3. Productive, yes. Fully healthy, no. And I didn't necessarily want Hendry to keep him for both of the remaining years of his contract; I would have preferred for him to try and move Bradley before the deadline or next offseason.
  4. Or teams are eating that kind of money because they're really, really dumb. It's amazing how many people can't see the difference between not re-signing a player and trading a productive player in the middle of a contract after they've done everything possible to help torpedo their leverage in moving him. Bringing up Milton's variety of teams is totally glossing over how few times he's actually been traded and how his injury history would obviously weigh on decisions to bring him back. There's the personality issues, but it's not like they're the only reason why he wouldn't be re-signed by a team. It basically amounts to repeatedly screaming "LOOK HOW MANY TEAMS HE'S BEEN ON" as if he's been bounced from every team because of personality issues and hoping that nobody actually looks into that.
  5. Theriot's like the Eddie Haskell to the fans'/media's Mrs. Cleaver.
  6. He might have owed up to it when being asked by the media. But he sure as heck didn't like it was all his fault. Basically when Milton was unhappy, he made everybody around him unhappy. Ryan Theriot was next to his locker and thats basically what he said. This still doesn't make any sense, and it makes evern less sense with every story that tries to spin it like everyone else was on the same page except for Milton. If everyone else in the clubhouse gets along, who cares if one guy is in a bad mood? Is everyone else that weak and fragile emotionally and mentally that one guy sulking or being a jerk means everyone else can't get along? If that was the case then shouldn't that place be a wreck every year due to Zambrano alone? Maybe Milton Bradley just didn't want to talk to Ryan-fuckin'-Theriot. It's probably annoying as crap to listen to some hick, Ed Hardy-wearing dwarf acting like he's the isht.
  7. Except for the key points that are completely wrong, like Milton not owning up to when he performed poorly or not being able to play with the pressure of what was going on.
  8. It seems like people talk about Milton's year in Chicago as if he got worse or couldn't perform on-field as things got more "controversial," yet the exact opposite was true. He got better and better with each month until September, and he only played 14 games in September. April/March: .118 .333 .294 .627 (14 games) May: .268 .348 .439 .787 (24 games) June: .273 .377 .348 .725 (22 games) July: .275 .457 .420 .878 (24 games) August: .308 .427 .484 .911 (26 games) September/October: .196 .226 .275 .501 (14 games) At Wrigley: .296 .407 .485 .892 (65 games) I don't understand why some people insist he simply would be unable to deal with the fans at Wrigley. He seemed to actually thrive on playing in a hostile environment.
  9. That's what happens when a thread title is so goddamned obtuse.
  10. ... THE CUBS' BAD SEASON HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH CHEMISTRY. Bad chemistry didn't take out Aramis for almost half a season, make Soriano and Soto terrible or turn 2nd base a nightmare of pain and suffering and despair until Jeff Baker showed up. Team chemistry had zilch to do with this team reguarly going out there with 3-5 offensive dead spots in the lineup. Carlos Silva will not help rest the bullpen. They don't have to let him pitch.
  11. This divorce news is great. The sooner Tiger gets back to golf the better. He's got a ton of of [expletive]-talking punks to school and it's going to be epic.
  12. That's still not a sure thing. I think what may be most telling in all this is how Ricketts stated that he set a strict limit as to how much of Bradley's contract the Cubs would be willing to pick up. We never found out what that limit was, but I suppose it was possible he told Hendry, "listen up, we're not paying ANYTHING to wipe up after your [expletive] up," or he came to that conclusion when it became clear that other teams expected the Cubs to pay too much of Bradley's contract to get anyone of value in return. It was painfully obvious to anyone with two brain cells that Hendry was backed into the corner by his own actions and statements. The reports of multiple teams being interested could easily have been true, but it's likely they were demanding that the Cubs pay most of the contract.
  13. I dunno, I guess it's a story. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/choi.jpg http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/12/former-cub-hee-seop-choi-has-been-to-the-mountaintop.html
  14. Like I said you can believe whatever reason why the Cubs sucked last season as a why to sleep at night. I chose smorgabord of reasons that includes bad chemistry. If you don't believe in bad chemistry then so be it. I do think bad chemistry play a part. Now move on. Why do you keep talking about sleep? It's weird and creepy. So you think if the Cubs all got along great last year they would have been better? And, from what we can tell, it seems like the only person anyone had any issues with was Bradley. You're telling me that all of the people on the roster apparently get along or at least don't have any problems, but ONE guy can destroy all of that? It doesn't matter if the others are all buddy-buddy so long as one guy is a jerk? That's absurd. You're the one making up ridiculous excuses to justify this, not me.
  15. Are you [expletive] kidding me? You seriously think Milton Bradley, one man, has brought down every team he's been on? That he is THE reason that they do badly or underperform? You really think ballplayers are childish enough that they don't play well unless they like everyone on the team? You can't really be that dense.
  16. The bullpen was actually very average. Ideally, yes, you'd want it to be better, but it was nowhere near the disaster it seemed to be. It was simply exposed more often than you'd like with the ineffectual Cubs' offense failing time and time again to score runs when it was critical, leaving the bullpen to hold games longer than you'd like too often. Pitching ultimately was not the Cubs' problem last year, either with the starters or even the bullpen despite things like Gregg's flameout. The crappy end result of 2009 rests almost entirely with the offense underperforming.
  17. 18. What? This division still stinks if Holliday signs with the Cardinals. It's not like they become world beaters signing back a guy who hit out of his mind in a relatively small span of time and will not repeat such a performance over the course of a season. Holliday is good, but come on.
  19. What's he saying? I don't know. I'm just forseeing that bald jerkoff leering like Christmas came early on Chicago Tribune Live.
  20. I have the random urge to punch Dave Kaplan in the throat right now.
  21. How is he a distraction to his manager and the players when it comes to actually playing and managing a game? And who gives a [expletive] what the media is "distracted" with? You act like the Cubs have to work hard to get people to come out and spend money. Having Milton Bradley spend all of his offtime calling up Cubs fans and insulting them still wouldn't keep them away.
  22. That would make this day at least tolerable so long as Hendry doesn't overpay as per usual. Please, no Pods.
  23. He was a PR nightmare on the team that cares more about PR than almost any team in sports. You don't have to like it, but it doesn't make it untrue. That still doesn't make it something that they have to do. How would this "PR nightmare" effect the team? The Cubs stunk last year because 2B turned into a black hole offensively for much of the season, Soto was fat, hurt and awful/had a ton of bad luck and Soriano was bad and playing hurt. Bradley definitely got off to an ice cold start offensively but ended up being a productive player. People aren't going to stop buying tickets and merchandise because of Milton Bradley. Milton Bradley can't make his teammates play worse. Never at any point has moving him beein something they had to do. Who gives a [expletive] if he doesn't like the fans?
  24. No sense in getting bent out of shape over something you had to have seen coming for the last four months. This is all crying over spilled milk. If anyone actually thinks the Cubs have ANY chance of winning the World Series in the next three years, you're sadly mistaken. I've come to terms with this, so it doesn't hurt anymore. When it gets this bad you just can't allow yourself to become so emotionally invested. It's simply not worth it. Oh God, shut up with the baseball robot garbage. Take it easy tough guy. Nobody kicked your dog. Yet. Nobody's trying to be a tough guy; I just don't want to hear the "oh man, I don't get emotional over this" crap on a day like this. My team did something really, REALLY stupid and I want to vent.
