  1. When Soriano is locked in he's incredible. And hey, nice job by Tracy!
  2. Does he get credit for Kukoc?
  3. It's still a trade and you still need to get the player you want as opposed to someone else getting him.
  4. TL; DR. I'm eating pancakes.
  5. I dont know if its any more or less likely than the chances that Theriot continues to produce at his current pace (very unlikely). I tend to think he'd be at least as good offensively and he would be an upgrade defensively. I think you're overstating the odds of a player that young and that inexperienced being able to come up and produce right away in the bigs. It would obviously be fantastic if he did come out and out produce guys like Theriot, but odds are he probably wouldn't even match typical Theriot production for most of the season, if at all this year.
  6. Last year? Yeah, but why still act surprised that's "back?" It's not like he's just started hitting in the last few games. He's been looking good most of the season now. we're only a month in after a terrible year last year. I don't think it's terrible for some people to want to see a month (or more) of ABs before they determine last year was a blip (injury related or otherwise) rather than a trend. I only watched the last few innings. Was the umpire terribly inconsistent with balls and strikes all game? Who said it was terrible? My response was based on the comment sounding like Soriano had just picked up in the last few games.
  7. The only way it makes sense to bring up Castro is if he's a lock to out-produce Theriot at SS or to out-produce the current 2B combo...and he is very far from that right now.
  8. And again, it's very debatable whether the Cubs have a staff that can accomplish much in the playoffs or whether they're going to even be able to compete for the WC. You're talking about Castro like he's likely to be some kind of difference maker, and that's probably not the case at this point.
  9. It's very debatable as to whether or not the Cubs are "close" winning a WS this year (they're not), and it's very debatable whether or not Castro would make the team better at this point.
  10. Last year? Yeah, but why still act surprised that's "back?" It's not like he's just started hitting in the last few games. He's been looking good most of the season now.
  11. Was there really anything to come back from for Soriano recently? Last 2 weeks: .297 .400 .595 .995
  12. Even though it got tense, that outing was still a good thing to see from Marmol. The bases loaded were more the result of a tight zone and questionable calls as opposed to him being truly wild. He stayed focused and kept throwing good pitches. Nice win!
  13. I'm just on gamecast. What happened? Just landed funky on the mound after his pitch and rolled his ankle a bit.
  14. He's starting to hit the ball hard, but unfortunately right at someone. That's a sign that his slump may be ending. I think (hope) he'll be ok. Perhaps he still may have some lingering shoulder issues? I'm more worried about the continued lack of contact than how hard he's hitting the ball when he does hit it. Maybe my perception is off, but it sure seems like he's still striking out at a dreadful rate. It's not off; his k rate is much worse.
  15. Ugh, seeing Colvin and Hill in there just fills me with dread about this game being tied.
  16. Do not attempt to keep Soto off the bases.
  17. Aramis crushed that ball. It just happened to be lined right at the 3B.
  18. Seriously? Aramis was out because the ball bounced right to the RFer and he's not fast to begin with, Fontenot has the 2B basically on top of him and Silva is fat and slow. None of that had to do with "not hustling."
