    I knew that no matter what restaurant I chose for my example, I'd get a comment like that of some sort...:P Yeah, but Pizza Hut is just intentionally aiming for the very worst of the worst.

    Very nice bounce back inning for Wells. Hopefully he can stay settled down.

    It's really not that surprising. As good as he seemed last year he got noticeably worse in the 2nd half. Looking at his FIP Splits it paints the picture that he was awesome in May when he came up, and then pretty much average the remainder of the year. I think we're just seeing a bad stretch from a guy who's a decent starter, which is an unfortunate contrast to his overperformance prior to now. True. I don't think he's this bad, but he's definitely nowhere near as good as his inflated reputation from last year suggested.

    Wells is dog [expletive]. I'd much rather have seen him go to the bullpen instead of Gorzelanny. Christ, he's allowed 13 1st inning runs in the 12 1st innings he's pitched in. It's the Cardinals start all over again. Wanna get him out of there, Lou?

    Keppinger doing Wells a huge favor by trying to take 3rd on Fukudome.

    But that doesn't make him important. Getting along with the other players is hardly exceptional, and is basically essential for a player as terrible as he is.

    So? He was a big part of the team a couple of years ago. No, he wasn't. I didn't say he was a great player. In 2006 he was a fan favorite and an important part of the team. Fans appreciate that. He might have been a fan favorite, but he definitely was not an important part of the team, at least not in regards to his on-field performance.

    I nominate that we never bring up the "he doesn't care" or "he's given up" stuff. He's just a bad manager. He's always been a bad manager. The only difference is now he's too old and feeble to throw a tantrum like a child. He hasn't "given up" something that made him a good or effective manager; he's just given up the window dressing that distracted the rubes from how bad a manager he is.

    What? About being sent to the pen. Be glad you're not on a AAA bus somewhere.... What did he say besides that he doesn't think that the way he's pitched doesn't merit being sent to the bullpen?
