  1. The WS should be going within 3 days after the LCS end, this is ridiculous. And 2-2-1-1-1 seems like it has the ability to stretch out series way too long as well.
  2. It's actually the complete opposite.
  3. Eh, [expletive] it. There's basically zero chance they can put together a team to actually take advantage of Cutler's talent any time soon, so they might as well take him down with the ship.
  4. it didn't help that Manumaleuna just let the guy go and sack cutler but he was just standing there in the tucked position waiting to get sacked, just waiting. any other quarterback is throwing that away or actually finding someone downfield. the quarterback of the bears however, is looking to take a sack. The Bears have sucked the life out of him.
  5. That Phillies/Rays WS was even more lower rated than the White Sox/Astros one, so I don't think you can lump the Phillies in with teams that are actually big national draws.
  6. I'm idly curious as to which matchups end up drawing in more viewers when the Red Sox or the NYC teams aren't involved.
  7. Yeah, the White Sox/Astros one was the lowest rated of all time, but all of the next ones dipped below that until the Yanks and Phillies last year.
  8. I kind of hope the Cubs win myself. Get outta here with that crap.
  9. Dammit, why must you be made of gloom?
  10. Nasty, nasty pitch. That was perfect.
  11. Wowwwwwwwwwwww.
  12. HuffHuffHuffHuffHuff.
  13. If they have plenty of arms in the pen why did they bring in a starter on 1 day rest to get outs for them. I just thought it was an odd move that's all. Because ideally he's much, much better than any of the other arms available and then they wouldn't have to go to Wilson until the 9th. PLAY TO WIN, YOU [expletive] [expletive].
  14. YESSSSSSSSSSSS.
  15. Beard me, baby.
  16. Dammit, don't [expletive] this up, Freak.
  17. Panic? They've got plenty of arms in the bullpen. This is ideally shutting the door.
  18. Cliff Lee is great but their rotation is not that good. And yet they've had some of the best pitching in the AL this year.
  19. Doesn't really make that huge a difference in the long run. It's not always or necessarily a "bad" thing, but it's not really critical to having a good team and can pretty easily be detrimental.
  20. Just because you spend like the Yankees doesn't mean you have to root for them.
  21. There's 2 1/2 years difference in their ages thats well within the ball park. That's why were not comparing slash stats. There's a whole plethora of metrics out their specifically designed to compare players of different skill sets. I can't find anywhere where I suggested that was the case. My question was they make similar salaries are they of similar value? Which is fair...I disagree...I'd bet he makes closer to Marlon Byrd money than he does 10M. (obviously assuming no dramatic changes) I'm now completely baffled as to why you brought up Adam Dunn. Fukudome's simply not significantly overpaid based on his production thus far.
  22. In 2008, Dunn made $13 million. Kosuke made $13 mil last year. Dunn also made $12 mil last year. If I was looking for an outfielder, I'd strongly consider Kosuke over Dunn because of defense. If I had an opening at first, where I could minimize Dunn's horrid defense, I'd take Dunn in a heartbeat. The list I saw had Fukudome at 14M for last year - but the point really was do you consider them equivalent players? I don't (and I'm not nearly the Dunn fan that some are) Lets pretend Fukudome is a FA this year. Is there a team anywhere on the planet that is going to offer him $14M or 12M or 10M...? This type of comparison doesn't make any sense. They're significantly different in age with significantly different skill sets. Making the same or similar money doesn't make them similar players. And yes, I could easily see him being offered around $10 million a year after this contract.
  23. [expletive] awesome.
  24. I don't think both sides of that sentence can co-exist - it's a little late so forgive me if I am missing something. It means that generally speaking, based on his production and his salary to this point Fukudome isn't really overpaid. Maybe a bit, but not significantly so. The former point means that the Cubs very well could have spent the money better based on their specific needs, but that doesn't actually mean that he's overpaid. That's a different issue from someone being overpaid; it means that at the time that the Cubs needed to spend that money on a different type of player from Fukudome, but that doesn't make him overpaid based on how he's produced. It means the Cubs didn't spend their money wisely.
