    Typically, yeah. But Fielder isn't built like a typical player. True but most of the guys who are built like Fielder last til age 32-35 or so before they just drop off a cliff... (Cecil was 33 with his last average or better season and Mo Vaughn was 34 with his) Prince is a better hitter and more agile than most guys with the same build that he should be able to last as long as them, if not longer. Heck Frank Thomas lasted til he was 40, but he had the DH to help him out. First of all, Thomas and Fielder are very different players in terms of how they were/are built. Secondly, both Vaughn and Fielder definitely benefited greatly from having the DH option open to them, especially once they got on the other side of 30. No, they weren't fulltime DH's, but they were able to spend at least a few dozen games in their post-30 season as a DH, an option Prince will not have with the Cubs. They're also two guys who didn't make it past ages 34 and 35, and that's with being able to play hundreds of games as a DH, so that's not a terribly good argument in favor of Fielder.

    Not really Yes really. Late, underthrown, lobbed instead of a normal trajectory. There was nothing good about that from Ryan's perspective. Stop it.

    I'm not a fan of the Garza trade, but let's be realistic; Lee and Archer were the ones worth a damn. Guyer could have been shopped smarter as part of a better deal, but your appraisal of him is pretty optimistic. Chirinos was essentially a toss-in. I know your thing is to hate anything and everything Hendry does, but come on. There's no need to inflate the mistakes made over this one. Guyer and Chirinos really aren't a big deal.

    No and no. The Cubs will have money, but I highly doubt that either actually hit the FA market. Pujols will re-up with the Cardinals and Fielder is probably gonna be moved to the Yankees and will be locked up by then. Even if Fielder does hit the market I agree with the idea of staying away. He's a hell of a player, but a guy that fat is just going to fall off of a cliff if he can't DH.

    Because projections like that aren't terribly realistic. It would be nice if he developed more, but as it stands pretty much all of his hype revolves around his unsustainable power numbers. Without that he's far too unremarkable to merit getting anything resembling regular starts.
