  1. Nah, Rolling Rock would be a dealbreaker.
  2. Yup. If you don't act the meatball then meatballs have nothing.
  3. I don't think you'll find many that think Reyes is not a good player. The problem is, he will cost a lot of money and plays a position where we don't have a huge hole to fill. Prince Fielder will cost a lot of money and fill a huge hole. Priorities, man. Well there is a lot of talk that Castro is eventually going to 2nd. Having Castro replace Barney would be a significant upgrade. Still with that 1st base is more important to me too. Even if Castro moves the Cubs are still relatively deep with MI talent.
  4. That's not what I'm talking about.
  5. Step back for a second and realize the rain-out didn't do a damn thing to help them win last night's game. I thought was major indication of how I feel about curses, etc. Also, everything I said has to do with their increased chances of winning tonight because of the extra day... But to get to tonight they had to win last night, and the rain-out apparently had next to nothing to do with helping the Cardinals accomplishing that or giving them more of a shot of doing so.
  6. And you know this....how? Why does Starlin Castro give a [expletive] about Ryne Sandberg?
  7. Because the Rangers made bad decisions, played sloppily and too many of the relievers pitched like [expletive]. Luckily the cardinals played a flawless game so they could overcome all of that....... Never said they did. They just didn't make the same or worse mistakes at the wrong times like the Rangers did. The Rangers had this game in hand multiple times and they fucked it up. The rain-out had zero to do with it. The just played and were managed too poorly when it counted.

  9. Yes, not crying about the Cardinals "magical" ability to sometimes win baseball games is the same thing as not rooting for the Cubs when they win the World Series. I fully admit it's a pet peeve of mine, but I can't help it; I do not understand the desire at all to prop the Cardinals up as something they're obviously not and then acting like it's this thing that's practically reducing you to tears and and a flood nonstop whining. Why would you seemingly rather play the sniveling victim as opposed to the angry rival? I hate the Cardinals. I hate that they're at this point. I hate their lineup and rotation and bullpen and coaching staff riddled with douchebags topped by All Might Highfather Douchebag himself. I'm just not going to be ridiculous about it and go out of my way to twist the Cardinals as some kind of bizarrely lucky/blessed team, or construct absurd conspiracy theories to justify it.
  10. Yes, one of those lazy curses where it always goes their way except for all the times it doesn't. All it proves to me is Selig has a man crush on LaRussa and will always give his teams the benefit of the doubt. The fact that the Cardinals were able to postpone a World Series game when it could have been played in order to set up their rotation is pretty sickening. Wow. Even Berkman came out and said the game should have been played. It's just like for how 8 of the 10 years during the '00s when the cubs had to go to St. Louis more than they came to Chicago. They may in fact be small things, but there shouldn't be any advantage at all. Step back for a second and realize the rain-out didn't do a damn thing to help them win last night's game.

  12. This is how every "good baseball man" advances in baseball, because all baseball men have nothing but good things to say about all good baseball men. Every pitching coach does a great job, every hitting coach is tremendously helpful, every manager has players that want to play for him, every scout is a savvy one. Those statements are completely worthless. As some have already noted, the Cubs players were gaga over Mike Quade last fall and he proved to be an incompetent boob. Also: Mike Quade had a lot of experience in the Cubs organization. Almost all of the meatball excuses for Sandberg can be applied to Quade.
  13. Well, 1. If you think the situations are similar once an injury occurs, then why would Pujols, in the off-season, leave, provided the money is similar, with the Cardinals coming off a World Series appearance and possible victory? Keep in mind the post I was responding to initially - Tim said he felt that Berkman's resigning meant they were giving up on Pujols. St Louis could have avoided getting to this point with Pujols if they were willing to pay him more last year. They weren't. It's possible that the WS appearance / victory change things from one side or the other, but I think that if St Louis was comfortable offering Albert the money & years he wants, they would have done so already. Signing Berkman gives them a 1B to plug in and take a harder line in the negotiations. It's a gut feel on my part, but I don't think he stays if he gets to the FA period. Right. Everything that has happened this year to this point seems expressly counter to the idea that they're either going to pay him significantly more or that he's going to come way down and take their offer.

  15. Oh, so you were ga-ga over Mike Quade then?
  16. Aren't you a Cardinals fan? Go eat an entire bag of dicks. Wait, she is? Then why the [expletive] is her insane stream of consciousness madness always here?
  17. Compared to most baseball players? Despite the typical jokes, yeah, he is.
  18. What? That was really bad baseball.
  19. Yeah, this. I'm mad, but I have to take a step back. This game has absolutely no effect on my life, and I'm not even a fan of either of the teams. If it was anyone other than the Cardinals, this would be a fantastic game. haha n&g agrees with ski Then there's some hope for the rest.
  20. Seemingly 'til death.
  21. Ugh, try to rein in the weeping vaginas, fellas.
  22. Fuckin' tedious. Way to [expletive] the bed, Rangers.
  23. Someone start playing circus music for the Rangers.
  24. by productive out i assume you mean "cut the cards' win probability in half" Lol numbers don't mean a thing to them. Still flogging that one, eh? Have you been paying attention to the past month and a half? The numbers had them dead a long, long time ago. Yes, I know, you're the "Cardinals always find a way to win in the playoffs" (they don't)-guy. This must be like weird porn for you.
