  1. that's all the signs said, right? nothing about canceling the season or alleging that everyone in the football program knew about the abuse? Sooooo...he deserved it? He was asking for it? What exactly are you saying here? How do either of those things possibly justify the treatment he got? Would he have gotten the same reaction if his sign had said "put abused kids first," as theo said? Probably. The article seems to be depicting people primarily being pissed at him seemingly due to where he had positioned himself. Any message focused on the molestation at the location would likely be met with similar responses. Oh, please. Your conflating Right wing partisan slant into a charge that they inexplicably falsified an article about a protester at a Penn State game? Why would the writer or the paper do that? Are they struggling to find angles in this story to make Penn State look bad? So what? Meatballs gonna meatball. They're looking like jackasses for throwing things at him and insulting him and threatening him for just standing there. But sure, because they were within their rights it's fine, right?

What exactly are you saying here? How do either of those things possibly justify the treatment he got? No one is justifying anything. We're just arguing that Theo's theory that every current and former PSU student/professor/administrator is a rioting child rape-enabling bully is a little bit of a stretch Well, no, it's more than that in that post; Truffle went out of his way to clarify some of things said on the sign, as if that's somehow justification or a reasoning for the treatment the protester received.
  3. It was done in 2008. That team got on base a lot. Was able to run a little. And had some power, but didn't live or die by it. I'm pretty sure that happened incidentally as opposed to Hendry actually constructing a good team. And while they didn't lead the league in HR, they did lead the NL in slugging, so they definitely did a LOT of living by their power in addition to that sexy OBP.

  5. Is the prognosis on Morales ever returning healthy not good?
  6. That's the worst that can happen. Didn't you hear that Theo wants to change the culture and build a winning team? Don't you remember that Theo says he wants productive players and who have their teammates' back? How does Z fit into any of those? Has he suddenly see the light and will shape up? You want to bring back an overpaid malcontent who attacked his teammates, quit on the team and is non-productive? No thanks. This is the showcase tour. Z has little value right now and if shows something now, maybe a team will be interested. I'm sure we may have to eat some $$$, but Theo knows that Z can't be brought back. Yes, he can.
  7. Is Soriano for Crawford actually a thing being rumored or just the usual bullsheeting? That's like the 4th separate place I've seen it brought up in the past week.
  8. Actually, the best they can do is let him pitch for the Cubs.
  9. Or if Maddon prices himself out of the Rays' managerial budget. Which arguably falls under the former.
  10. The Rays aren't letting Maddon go until something disastrous happens or he decides to retire.
  11. I don't know if this is actually all that realistically do-able, but it's nice to have a GM taking such a balanced, well-rounded approach to building a team instead of reactionary [expletive] like "we need to get more left-handed" or "we need guys who can catch the ball."
  12. Yeah, and they look really bland and boring on those other teams, too. What can I say? I prefer grey and pinstripe-type uniform schemes.
  13. B2B + posting = FAIL I'm not sure how many times I have to tell people to be nice, but I'm not going to be patient about it much longer. Oh, so "insult the post, not the poster" is out the window, too? how the heck is that not insulting b2b? Because it's easily read as someone saying he's a terrible, terrible poster, not a terrible, terrible person.
  14. Well, when they were winning World Series it was charming and lovable. When they have the 2011 collapse he's "lost control of the clubhouse."

  16. Blue stripe down the side = problem solved Great, then it looks slightly less like a made up uniform from a bad baseball movie.
  17. Why would they have to get rid of the pinstripes to also incorporate an all-white scheme into the uniform rotation?
  18. ??? That's a true or false question. There are only two choices, by definition. Actually, the amount of benefit the Yankees receive from his contract would lie on a continuum. It not a suck vs great decision Exactly. And that's been the part of the Cubs and big contracts argument all along that dave just dismisses and either just willfully ignores or is simply just flat out opposed to.
  19. LOVE that movie. WAY outta line, way outta line!
  20. That's what dave does; tries to boil everything down to only two choices. Tex's contract either sucks or it doesn't. There's absolutely no other answer to him.
  21. Age considerations should be placed here. Howard is older than than Fielder, and has thus played through almost all of his "prime" years while "matching" Fielder's output. I would be willing to bet that if we wait a few years, Prince will outperform Howard during the same "prime" years because he doesn't have as much of a flawed swing as Howard. [davearm2]But he's fat.[/davearm2]
  22. Howard's splits were drastic in 2011. Prior to that, his career ops vs. lefties wasn't that different from Fielder's: .768 vs .799 By the time Fielder gets to be Howard's age, we might be calling him a platoon guy too. Who knows. Not just in 2011. He's been noticeably slipping against lefties since 2008. His career numbers against them are propped up from his 2008 and before numbers. Sure, maybe Prince will have the same issues, but this was a known issue with Howard going back to when he was in the minors (his first two years in the majors he faced significantly fewer LH pitchers because of it). Fielder's numbers against lefties are primarily dragged down by how bad he was against them in 2010.
