Man, I don't know; in hindsight those Jordan-lead Bulls teams were like watching the Justice League of basketball. I'll take that over eking out a championship any day.
Detestable or intriguing? Seems to me like you can't get enough. You've probably spent more time commenting on my posts than any other poster on this board. Must be the similarities we share like being Grade A douches/losers with dreams of being known as the most alpha poster on a message board. I can't WAIT 'til I my post count is enough that I can drop one judgmental line on a post and walk away with that little tingly feeling I have zero doubts you get (I got em good!). Sure, why not.
I saw this pop up on a newsfeed and was hoping for something decent since it was the WSJ, but man, that was hideous. Stupid me for thinking it would be an examination of how local businesses and politics impact the financial ability of the club and even the physical condition of the stadium itself.
Just embrace it. I have no problem with my meatballiness. I just want to be accepted by you, the greatest poster in the history of the Cubs. Ehhhh, not really meatball-y enough. Being that petulant is, I dunno...being a pork chop?
Because he's younger (25) and signed for six years, not 29 (as Hamels will be next season) and looking for 8 years. Because he likely won't get 7-8 years. He's been very consistent. His concern over signing Hamels is due to Hamels' age and how many years he's reportedly looking for and has a good chance of commanding because pitchers (especially older ones) are so much more of a crapshoot of lasting over such a long contract.
If they could get him for something like 5 years I'd be all for it. I'm terrified of what is going to happen to his body as he gets older after what he's put it through.
Good point. Should they start Bryant against Oklahoma City or has Steve Blake overtaken him? I don't get the snark or the wasted hours of MJ research. Did he have a unwhelming game? Yes. That's all that this discussion was about. 17 points on 16 shots is underwhelming. Doesn't mean he's NOT an all time great or that no great players have bad playoff games, just that this particular game was bad. No need to make a mountain out of an anthill. Yes, you dropping that little nugget immediately after pages of people trying to make the argument that Kobe Bryant is overrated makes it ridiculous for anyone to assume that you too shared that opinion.
No, it's pointing out that recognizing that Jordan was better than Kobe doesn't have to involve trying to make Kobe a far worse player than he's actually been.
I'm not sure but soccer's aspergery post of a bunch of box score inks without taking into account how long and consistently Jordan made deep playoff runs was clearly to make it seem like a big number. Don't look too much into it. The point was simply to show that even the almighty Michael Jordan wasn't immune to the occasional bad elimination/closeout game in the postseason (not to say that MJ had a ton of them or even had them frequently). So the fact that Kobe didn't have a great game isn't all that big of a deal. No way, dude, that was totes aspergery.
From another NBA great: 19 points on 18 shots in an elimination game. 30 points on 30 shots in an elimination game. 25 points on 22 shots in an elimination game. 31 points on 27 shots in an elimination game. 21 points on 25 shots in a closeout game. 25 points on 24 shots in a closeout game. 23 points on 19 shots in a closeout game. 22 points on 19 shots in a closeout game. 24 points on 23 shots in a closeout game. 28 points on 31 shots in a closeout game. 39 points on 35 shots in a closeout game. 28 points on 25 shots in a Game 7. 28 points on 26 shots in a closeout game including an airballed three-pointer at the buzzer. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/3/10256-mk_fatality.png
Thinking back about guys like Patterson and Pie just frustrate the hell out of me, because I wonder what might have happened if they come up in a system that knew what they hell it was doing when it came to developing non-pitching prospects. By no means were they sure things, but for guys like that with so much talent and so much praise and high expectations to just fall so totally flat is pretty damning.
