  1. Well, at least you're not letting emotion cloud your judgement or anything.
  2. I really hope the second half was a joke.
  3. Hey, it's OK; it was totally necessary to be terrible for some reason.
  4. Do you add anything pertinent to any thread you post in? Seriously between the rap attempt and this, I'm wondering are you 14? Don't you have middle school tomorrow? Actually, yes. But as a teacher. I AM MOLDING THE FUTURE. And I tried engaging you; you persisted only with a cesspool of anti-logic. Now you will only know deep hurting.
  5. Go back to putting your farts in jars.
  6. Ugh, now we get a dave thing, too? dave, there's been plenty of talk here about Castro's aggressive approach, especially since he's been holding down the #3 spot, and especially in the last week. I have no idea if the word "walk" was specifically mentioned enough for your liking, but if you're seriously going to try and pretend like nobody here has voiced any concern about his lack of patience/walking then you're just trying way too damn hard for some solidarity with neely.
  7. "Not talking about Castro and walks in one thread = never talking about Castro and walks" is hilariously close to LCCF's "hypocritical dishonesty" thesis in the politics thread last night.
  8. As opposed to the offensive juggernauts they've been running out there?
  9. Don't forget the Starlin Exception: if everyone likes you and you don't walk much, then BA matters and OBP is ignored. Great point; people never talk/complain/worry about Castro and walks here. NAILED IT.
  10. Man, the date/box score was bad enough, but that article is just like 18 different kicks to the balls.
  11. It was a combination of things for me; being a huge baseball card/stat nerd in my younger days made it kind of a natural progression. It helped having friends over the years that were HUGE into old school fantasy baseball, so they explained a lot of this to me while I just had a dazed look on my face. A cousin introduced me to Bill James' ideas in the late 90's, too. Like many others here, Moneyball just sort of crystalized these various ideas a as a real, legitimate and awesome "thing," and I remember going into the 2004 season just not getting enough of it. That said, I still consider my overall stat/sabermetric knowledge pretty limited. Math is not a strong suit for me at all, so I constantly rely on reading over other people's analysis and definitions/glossaries to remind me just what the hell I'm looking at.
  12. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. A sleepy-eyed psycho by the name of Theodore Roosevelt Lilly would like some words with the two of you.
  13. do you know what that is? I'm not the type of person who likes to waste my time And when I'm on the mic I just say my rhymes Because I'm out on bail the check is in the mail They can sentence me to life but I won't go to jail I'm cool calm collected; from class I was ejected Just me, da Bum, and Benchwarmer we're rarely disrespected I got all the time that I need to kill What's the time? it's time to get ELL
  14. A baseball player being good in what amounts to approximately to 5 or 6 games out of 20 is a baseball player.
  15. Also: IT'S TIME TO GET ELL.
  16. WE'VE REACHED THE MOUNTAINTOP.
  17. LOL. So, no explanation? I'm just supposed to be furious over "jock riding?"
  18. We're not talking 5 years/seasons in Colorado. We're talking 35 games, 81 games, 147 games, 121 games and then 48 games. This is a guy who has had injury and consistency problems, but it's stupid to act like Coors Field is some end-all-be-all metric of success. It's not a lock that players will succeed there and they're not doomed to utter failure if they can't succeed there as hitters.
  19. Here's what Stewart put up in the only two years where he played anything close to a full season: .242 .329 .454 .783 Ideal? No, not at all, but he's shown enough flashes of talent to still be an intriguing reclamation project, and those numbers ideally show that there's something to work with and build on.
  20. OMG, THIS.
