  1. I'm a pretty big Rose fan, but he's certainly not going to be accused of being intelligent by anyone. Part 2 is harder to answer. A lot of layers there? Did he tell Reggie to speak up? Is he sitting out to prove a point? None of us truly know.(my feeling is yes, to both) Part 3? Ties into part 2 somewhat, but my answer changes to no. I think its a copout and an excuse to sit out, because he's not a 100%, during what he feels is a lost season. It's just a different type of athlete than it used to be. MJ would have been back the day he was cleared. Now, Adidas has as much say with Derrick as the Bulls do, arguably more. Personally, I wouldn't question his mentality though, I just think its a product of the times. The gist of this discussion though: I side with N&G, he's medically cleared-he should be out there. I'd just call him selfish and leave it at that, instead of digging deeper. I don't even think he's selfish or mentally weak or anything like that. I guess if I had to pick it would be "not very bright coupled with unrealistic expectations of himself." Supposedly he's hung up on the idea of coming back less than 100%, like it's somehow possible for his return to be this instantly triumphant thing like in the Reebok commercials. It's as if he's thinking everyone expects him to be amazing when he gets back, so he doesn't want to come back at anything less than amazing. Unfortunately it's a catch-22 situation where he's never going to get back to amazing if he doesn't first get a feel for his game again and play limited minutes and such.
  2. I'm writing Derrick a prescription for 15 regular season games and another 5 game playoff loss. That's what Bernstein is making it out to be. He's repeatedly said that the doctors said the next step in his therapy is to play NBA games. That's different than clearing him to play. They've cleared him to play.
  3. Well, there is, and it's been expressed very clearly repeatedly in this thread. And saying that "medical science isn't perfect" seems to amount to more than little more than throwing one's hands up and just saying, "OK, he play whenever." Your best information is to go off of what the doctors and trainers are saying...what else are you supposed to use as the primary information?
  4. Why are you saying "if?"
  5. I'll just write it off!
  6. Maybe he's actually not physically ready. Not according to the medical experts. Seriously, you think anyone is expecting him to play if he hasn't been cleared by the doctors/trainers?
  7. Well, he eventually has to move to the next level of his rehab process, yes. It just doesn't have to be now. Is it silly for him not to? Maybe. But unless there's some potential upside, why push him to do it right now? There's no reason to do so. I wasn't saying "literally game-changing" just for kicks; this is something that he needs to adjust to and potentially figure out how to be a different player than he was before (which impacts the players around him and how his coaches approach him). That's a HUGE reason for him to play sooner rather than later. And I'd flip around your post and say there's no reason for him not to play right now. There's absolutely no upside to him not playing whereas there's pretty huge reasons to get him back ASAP.
  8. Wait, what? What's the benefit to continuing the rehab process of a literally game-changing injury sooner rather than later? This isn't something someone should have to ask.
  9. HGH helps you heal so much faster. Apples to oranges. If Rose isn't doing the same then he's even stupider than he already is.
  10. FedEx just dropped mine off. This is....kinda great. So awesome. Can't imagine how excited I'd be if the team were really good. Yeah, there's definitely a damper on it, but I just keep thinking "investment."

  13. that's completely irrelevant to the point it shouldn't even have to be said in the first place. Why put it off when you can ideally get it over with sooner? If he's waiting for some magical point where he can step on the court and be at or near 100% and feel no pain or discomfort then he's never coming back; he's not playing right now because of ridiculously and pointlessly high standards he's set.
  14. Oh come the [expletive] on.
  15. Who cares about the PR? It's abundantly clear that the vast majority of Bulls fans aren't seriously bothered by this and are fine with whatever Rose decides. My concern is about the Bulls FO actually running the team well. We're not even 11 months into what was always described as an 8-12 month recovery time. I have a lot of nits to pick with the front office but them not forcing Rose's hand (YET) isn't one of them. It was always a possibility he'd miss the whole year. That being said, I do think there is a low-level boil going on in terms of anger from a certain percentage of Bulls fans which will only increase the more time he misses and the more incoherent the messaging gets. Yeah, but those timeframe estimates were based on when he's be medically cleared to play, not "when Rose feels like he should." If it was the medical specialists coming back and saying, "yeah, he's not ready, he might miss the whole season," fine, nobody would be questioning anything. When he's apparently medically cleared to play but he's deciding to not take the next recovery step, OK, what the [expletive]? That's not what anyone was picturing when it was projected he might miss a year.

  17. This is the kind of thing that it seems like Rose is thinking; playoff performance this season shouldn't even be a real concern for him. Yeah, it's obvious they're in, but his focus should be just getting back to playing form, not getting back to a level he can be a game changer for this year's playoffs. If that's do-able, great, but if not, oh well; get out there and play and work back up to fighting shape however long it takes. Putting it off just pushes the whole process back pointlessly.
  18. Because it's ridiculous; it's like e2s said, if this was any other star athlete being this evasive or supposedly saying the things Rose is people here would be mocking them left and right. The local radio isn't even all that critical of them; more just questioning the whole ridiculous situation, yet you'll have all kinds of people calling up and saying "how could you say that about Rose?!? How could you turn on him like that?!?!?!" and so on. If this was Kobe or LeBron people here would be having a field day with the story. I'm not even mad at Rose; he's just not very smart and wants impossible things, like returning only when he feels he's at or close to 100% or totally pain-free. I'm mad at the people around him and advising him for basically going along with this and agreeing with him and at the Bulls for seemingly for not putting their foot down. He's needlessly delaying an important part of the recovery process.
  19. This is so [expletive] dumb.
  20. Why didn't Luke use the Force to stop that bear from mauling the woman? The look on her face as she realizes what is happening is priceless. The look on her face as she gets mauled by a bear is priceless? What the hell is wrong with you? Maybe he's a decadent Roman emperor who has somehow fallen forward in time and is just loving what he knows.
  21. After thorough research I have decided that this man is my favorite Bear of all time.
  22. Plus this exchange is the greatest:
  23. http://deadspin.com/deandre-jordan/ They're right; I think Brandon Knight is like eight kinds of dead. The best gif would be Jordan's face right afterwards.
  24. Or, of course: http://images.quickblogcast.com/3/5/1/2/7/182718-172153/0220091507_M_conan_bear_450.jpg
