  1. This is great. I think they're my new favorite team.
  2. Wow. That's either being impressively drunk having a heart attack halfway through and face planting into the keyboard.
  3. Did anyone hear this during today's broadcast? Len is awesome As depressing as this season is I really appreciate how Len & JD can often still make the games at least listenable.
  4. My point is that the team is better than it's record, and should be treated as such going forward. It's not. We can try to convince ourselves all we want, but at some point a bad team is just a bad team. The XBH #'s are nice, but how many of those are were hits where the guy ends up stranded because everyone who comes up after is flailing away? The hitting lineup is very, very flawed and the bullpen stinks; it's not difficult to see why it's not a good team.
  5. It happens when your offense is so bad they actually win games because the pitchers start hitting.
  6. Wait, Villanueva shaved off the magnificent 'stache? *Weeps*
  7. Castillo has walked ONCE? Jesus [expletive] Christ.
  8. i've found apathy to be much more healthy. Well, I've never really gotten worked up over this team in that way; this just feels more like I just don't care to the point that I don't even really want to follow the team at all. Baseball in general just doesn't seem to hold my interest as much.
  9. The OBP/BB problem? Most of the problems are the legacy players, and we seem to be using those because Epstein focused most of his budget on pitching. It makes sense, even though it's annoying. Making sense doesn't really make it all that less frustrating; it just means the Cubs are potentially boned when it comes to internal contributions in the short run on both sides of the plate. It's all of that combined with just bad, bad timing; they couldn't capitalize on any kind of draft advantage. They might be missing the window when it comes to these big TV deals. All of the nonsense with the renovations. There's just so many hurdles to overcome. I'm not ranting about this like I'm angry or anything; I just feel tired all of sudden following this.
  10. Because our pythagorean wins say we should be .500. And BP's third-order wins keeps insisting that we're even better. The starting pitching is good, the offense should be OK if the platoons keep working, and the bullpen just can't be as bad as it's performed (and had a special knack for being bad in exactly the wrong, concentrated way). I think I can keep the delusion up at least through the draft. Good luck. I think the top of the 3rd finally broke something inside of me.
  11. Were you saying that five days ago? Not as much, which is why I'm hoping it's just frustration. However, I'm scared that I've been trying to deny what my eyes have been seeing for a while now because I want so much for Starlin to be a star. However, I've become more and more annoyed with his at bats and no longer want to use his age as an excuse. The dude could reach another level, but his approach at that plate simply won't allow him to at this point. Again, I hope I'm just speaking out of emotion because he's annoying the hell out of me. It's worrying me, too. It's especially compounded with how so many key parts in the minors seem to be struggling with similar issues, too.
  12. I refuse to give up just yet. I know it's gambler's fallacy, but we are owed a hot streak at this point. Why? The starting pitching is great, but everything else is deeply flawed. Rizzo is basically the only long term bright spot that's not taking the mound every five days. It's frustrating how far off things seem.
  13. Were you saying that five days ago? Probably. This team is just wearisome in how tedious it is. I can't even muster the energy to be mad; what's the point?
  14. Bears aren't tanking the season, so there's no reason to go out of their way to appease the meatballs. Though it might happen if they get off to a wretched start or if Cutler goes down with an injury.
  15. I'll take it; thanks, Castro. Hero time, Rizzo. Give Starlin Fan a heart attack.
  16. Pretty good; touched 92-93 seemingly pretty regularly, had decent movement/command and managed the inside of the plate pretty well. Ran into some full counts more than you'd like, but struck out (I think) 6 and took a no-no into the 5th. All in all he looked good, plus he hit a 2-RBI double.
  17. See, this is when average would be great.
  18. The bullpen may be rested, Len, but it is NOT stocked.
  19. Our rotation has been so awesome, too bad the bullpen, defense and most of the offense has been average-awful Seems weird to lump average and awful together like that. the bulpen has been awful, the defense has been average and the offense has been mostly awful But it's like you were talking about average like it's a bad thing.
