    The Cubs need desperately bullpen help. The amount of times I see people willing to just chuck Russell out the door for a trade is baffling; sometimes you can't let go of your valuable players if it's from a position of extreme need.

    I find your inability to cope with this particular crappy Cub season (as compared to the many in the past) amusing. I'm coping just fine; I just have little interest in minor league baseball, so waiting for those guys to pan out doesn't exactly make watching the major league team any less gruesome. It should help alleviate the pain. Granted even the most blue chip of prospects is no sure thing, but it's been a long time since we've had a crop like we do now. Back in the early 00's when the last wave of the future was on its way, I probably didn't even know where to go to check a minor league box score, so it is exciting to have a new generation of potential stars after several years of potential role players to sprinkle in here and there. Kind of like having $17 in the bank account, but hey, your stocks are trending up. Right, so when it actually pays off I'll enjoy it. I get that there are people who love following minor league baseball; I'm not one of them outside of sometimes checking the box scores.

    Even when he makes good contact he's fucked; he had a solid line drive that would have driven in an RBI with a single except Phillips made an amazing leaping catch to snag it.

    Yep. And the team has a .500 pythag currently (with Castro being as bad as he could ever dream of being). And there will be money to spend this offseason. But nope, contention next year is out of the question. If the team was at .500, they would be 11 games back in the NL Central (not exactly contending). As for Castro hitting well below what was expected, we have Scherhotlz, Sweeny, and Navarro producing much more than expected offensively and Feldman, Wood, and Gregg all pitching much better than expected. This really doesn't work like you think it does. Plus I like how you think a team should just go into firesale mode if they're not in first or second in a tough divison, regardless of their record.

    Oh, yeah, there's been a whole two he's had issues with, one of which was definitively terrible at his job. This is a really huge concern.
