  1. His DVOA is 6.5% while McCown's is 30.6%, tied with Aaron Rodgers for 5th among QBs this season. That doesn't really counter what Derwood is saying, plus DVOA doesn't really work like you seem to want it to. sure it does. MCCOWN HAS THROWN FOR LIKE 350 YARDS IN 3 STRAIGHT GAMES THAT'S INCREDIBLE. MY GOD, ONE WOULD EXPECT THE TEAM TO HAVE GONE BETTER THAN 2-2 IN THE LAST 4 GAMES AND MANAGED TO SCORE MORE THAN 21 POINTS IN ONLY 1 OF THEM, IT'S AS IF THEY ARE AN UNBEATABLE STEAMROLLER OF VICTORY.

  3. Yeah, Hanie was never the hot hand; he was only ever a monstrosity of necessity. I love having a backup like McCown, but I don't want to see him in there unless Cutler is hurt. Cutler has shown repeatedly he can lead this team to comeback wins, so even being behind isn't a reason to pull him.
  4. Plus McCown has basically been made by Alshon, and I would much rather see Alshon in beast mode with Cutler's sexy arm of power throwing to him. Basically we should be excited that we're going to see what they've been doing upgraded.
  5. Who has outplayed Cutler this year by a wide margin Not really, plus he's faced [expletive] defenses and he's an older backup QB. I don't get this "hot hand" crap at all; the guy hasn't been able to stick as a starter for a reason, and the odds of him keeping up this success can't be too good, especially if they make the playoffs. His "hot hand" could easily implode in less than a single game. I would think what the offense can do and has done would make wanting the better QB coming back all the more appealing instead of thinking, "nah, let's not rock the boat with this whole QB who was out of football a little while ago thing." Who cares that he's an older backup right now. Well, one would assume you'd want the better player to play, but silly me... So what? It's a miracle he's done what he's done and he should be applauded for it, but to act like he's a long term solution, even just for the rest of this season, when your started is healthy is absurd. This isn't some kind of Bledsoe/Brady situation, plus it's not like Cutler wasn't also clicking under the new coaching and with the new offense. QB rating? Really? Yeah, he's been lucky, especially since he's had some called back due to penalties. You really think that'll last, especially when he's facing better defenses? And Cutler has been annihilating Bears passing records his whole time here, so don't try to make it sound like they suddenly upgraded their passing game from something shitty. ... What? He's 2-3. Well, no; in the stats that matter they're actually pretty close, plus, again, McCown has mostly faced worse defenses. No, I would say "start the better starting QB instead of the older backup QB who has had a nice hot streak against some awful defenses and struggled brutally hard in the red zone until the last game."

  7. Holy [expletive], it's Josh [expletive] McCown and all I hear all day people are worried the bears won't go to him the moment Cutler doesn't look good. IT'S JOSH [expletive] MCCOWN.
  8. Thank you for making my night, BBB.

  10. Not really fair to just peg N&G for this...David is pretty aggressive about hating the Blackhawks/hockey as well. My "aggressiveness" in disliking hockey amounts to little more than taking shots at it here; it really isn't on my radar at all otherwise. I don't actively hate it like I hate college sports....that's a hate that burns bright and true.
  11. I take it you probably hate soccer; what if the Chicago soccer team was the only good team in town? That's what it's like when the Blackhawks are good. there were years when the fire were the best team in Chicago (1999-2000) and no one gave a [expletive]. When the Blackhawks won the Cup 2 million people showed up to celebrate. I'm not arguing/don't care which is more popular; I was responding to the guy wondering why someone in Chicago wouldn't be a Blackhawks fan. If you dislike hockey then the city's hockey team being good is akin to the Fire being good for someone that doesn't like soccer. so your point is that people who aren't interested in something don't have interest in that thing. that's still a terrible comparison. the NHL is considered to be one of the 4 major sports in america. it has a long, storied history with a very strong following. the mls has been around for like 20 years and is not close to being in the same class as the NHL. i think you're underestimating how big the NHL following is just because you aren't around it. should have just said it's akin to the bulls being good for someone who doesn't like football. This was really simple: guy wonders aloud how anyone in Chicago could not be a Blackhawks fan. I said to picture a team in a sport you don't like winning it all and I only picked soccer because it seemed to be the major sport that a good chunk of the board here likely doesn't like to follow or watch or just doesn't care about, same as I feel about hockey. It had zero to do with how much more popular one is over the other.

  14. Still better than knife-footed apes.
  15. Logan was being sarcastic; keep doing what you're doing.

  17. I like this guy.
  18. They could lose the game 49-52 and it would still be blamed on him, yet McCown's losses are not on him at all. This is an older backup QB playing out of his mind for a couple games, and, of course, the Bears are basing a gigantic decision on that tiny window.
  19. Yeah, the whole "don't mess with what's working" thing is ludicrous; were the Bears not doing well when Cutler was starting? It's not like they suddenly became unbeatable when McCown was put in, or they suddenly started winning after a terrible start.
  20. I'd honestly rather start Bogusevic than pay any salary to or give up anything of value for Morrison to be an outfielder. Yeah, I want to like Morrison, and I get that you're banking on him breaking out based on his age and pedigree, and I can even see how you might be able to shield him defensively a bit, but the defense being sooo bad makes it hard for me to get too excited. It's actually not that different to the Anderson ordeal. There's very clearly some upside, but the baseline is so low that it's hard to get excited about giving anything up to add him. Morrison at least has 3 years of control though. I was all excited about the Logan Morrison rumors until I realized I was thinking of the amazing video game Logan Morrison I traded for in MLB: The Show '11.
  21. Don't be modest, sulley; that's all you.
  22. I gotta plead ignorance on B&B; I've heard them brought up before when it comes to their opinions not being the usual meatballery, but I can never get past the one that sounds like a huge doof and always does the "by cracky" or whatever the [expletive] nonsense.
  23. Every NFL city would be reacting the exact same way under the exact same circumstances. Doesn't make it any less obnoxious. Plus I'd have to think that some of the other major cities have at least one mainstream voice of reasons when it comes to these types of things. Maybe not, but it just feels like Chicago is packed the gills with nothing but meatball sports reporters and analysts.
  24. This city is so stupid.
  25. Lmao. Welp, that pretty much seals the deal in hating McCown.
