  1. I take it you probably hate soccer; what if the Chicago soccer team was the only good team in town? That's what it's like when the Blackhawks are good. there were years when the fire were the best team in Chicago (1999-2000) and no one gave a [expletive]. When the Blackhawks won the Cup 2 million people showed up to celebrate. I'm not arguing/don't care which is more popular; I was responding to the guy wondering why someone in Chicago wouldn't be a Blackhawks fan. If you dislike hockey then the city's hockey team being good is akin to the Fire being good for someone that doesn't like soccer. so your point is that people who aren't interested in something don't have interest in that thing. that's still a terrible comparison. the NHL is considered to be one of the 4 major sports in america. it has a long, storied history with a very strong following. the mls has been around for like 20 years and is not close to being in the same class as the NHL. i think you're underestimating how big the NHL following is just because you aren't around it. should have just said it's akin to the bulls being good for someone who doesn't like football. This was really simple: guy wonders aloud how anyone in Chicago could not be a Blackhawks fan. I said to picture a team in a sport you don't like winning it all and I only picked soccer because it seemed to be the major sport that a good chunk of the board here likely doesn't like to follow or watch or just doesn't care about, same as I feel about hockey. It had zero to do with how much more popular one is over the other.

  4. Still better than knife-footed apes.
  5. Logan was being sarcastic; keep doing what you're doing.

  7. I like this guy.
  8. They could lose the game 49-52 and it would still be blamed on him, yet McCown's losses are not on him at all. This is an older backup QB playing out of his mind for a couple games, and, of course, the Bears are basing a gigantic decision on that tiny window.
  9. Yeah, the whole "don't mess with what's working" thing is ludicrous; were the Bears not doing well when Cutler was starting? It's not like they suddenly became unbeatable when McCown was put in, or they suddenly started winning after a terrible start.
  10. I'd honestly rather start Bogusevic than pay any salary to or give up anything of value for Morrison to be an outfielder. Yeah, I want to like Morrison, and I get that you're banking on him breaking out based on his age and pedigree, and I can even see how you might be able to shield him defensively a bit, but the defense being sooo bad makes it hard for me to get too excited. It's actually not that different to the Anderson ordeal. There's very clearly some upside, but the baseline is so low that it's hard to get excited about giving anything up to add him. Morrison at least has 3 years of control though. I was all excited about the Logan Morrison rumors until I realized I was thinking of the amazing video game Logan Morrison I traded for in MLB: The Show '11.
  11. Don't be modest, sulley; that's all you.
  12. I gotta plead ignorance on B&B; I've heard them brought up before when it comes to their opinions not being the usual meatballery, but I can never get past the one that sounds like a huge doof and always does the "by cracky" or whatever the [expletive] nonsense.
  13. Every NFL city would be reacting the exact same way under the exact same circumstances. Doesn't make it any less obnoxious. Plus I'd have to think that some of the other major cities have at least one mainstream voice of reasons when it comes to these types of things. Maybe not, but it just feels like Chicago is packed the gills with nothing but meatball sports reporters and analysts.
  14. This city is so stupid.
  15. Lmao. Welp, that pretty much seals the deal in hating McCown.
  16. Yeah, that's basically my take on it; looking at they've been able to do with McCown should be an endorsement of wanting to see it do even better with Cutler, not just stick with the backup. It is hard to see the offense playing any better than it did last night, regardless of who the quarterback is. I still think Cutler should be the starting quarterback, but I feel much better about moving on without him if they are unable to sign him. Well, last night is the screwy exception of playing a defense that's even worse than the Bears'; I'm talking more about the games leading up to it, unless people are thinking that last night was some kind of "beakthrough" for McCown.
  17. Yeah, that's basically my take on it; looking at they've been able to do with McCown should be an endorsement of wanting to see it do even better with Cutler, not just stick with the backup.
  18. Wait, the [expletive] is going on with Wilson in this thread? Is this something other people actually think? I have no idea how you took any of that away from what he said. Guy had a good game, a sick block, he was the first one right there pumping up and congratulating Bush and Alshon after their touchdowns, and you think he's a selfish "diva?" I do not understand sports fans sometimes.
  19. Please don't be so awful.
  20. So [expletive] sad. His is the only named jersey I've ever had.
  21. I'd say he's more in the top 20-30 range, but I could be wrong.
  22. It's not about "what I would give up for him," it's about what they would accept for him. What do they have to gain from taking our garbage? Just because that's what Anderson's risk is worth to us, does not mean that's his "value." You don't go into Best Buy (you shouldn't anyway, screw you derwood) and look at a $1,400 60-inch tv and go "well it would be nice, but I already have this nice 50 inch" and offer the store $400 for it because that's what it's worth to you. I like you.
  23. Oh, thank God; I thought we had found someone that had wanted the Cubs to be tanking it for even longer.
  24. In what insane universe does someone want four years of this hell.
  25. This is basically WSR's time to shine.
