  2. Alright, Yu's still set up nicely to go 7 like I predicted.
  3. horsefeathers, please score some more runs so that HR ends up being pointless.
  4. should have done the poop thing This should have been you when you were making this thread, you bastard:
  5. It's cool; Cubs will sling a couple of dongs outta here, and Darvish is gonna go 7.
  6. Holy horsefeathers, what a terrible called strike 3 to Rizzo.
  7. I'm gonna credit that to some kind of sorcery that Baez did to freak everyone out.
  8. Just a few days ago I would have been losing my mind over that inning, but I now feel weirdly confident that it's NBD. I guess this means the Cubs are good again.
  9. Though even with Furcal and an ongoing awesome Lee, that team probably would have still struggled to even finish .500.
  10. Were the Cubs at least seriously rumored to be trying hard to sign Furcal before the 2006 season? I thought they were pretty gung-ho about wanting a Pierre-Furcal 1-2, and it was viewed like the Dodgers basically swooped in at the relative last minute to sign him when he was leaning towards the Cubs. I remember being especially pissed that it was Furcal who injured Lee because of that...
  11. I figure a Lester trip to the IL, real or made up, is all but an inevitably (and maybe more than once), so that alone is probably going to get him a decent amount of starts. But yeah, the Cubs are nowhere near any kind of pitching depth where they could consider trading a starter. And if you really want to keep him up when Hendricks gets back, just go to a 6 man rotation for a while, especially if we have a long stretch with no off days. No harm in giving our guys an extra day of rest each time through. Definitely not; Lester and Hamels' ages combine to about 143, Darvish is always on the verge of his skeleton busting out of his skin and running away, and now Hendricks is hurt, too. The more rest this rotation can get the better.
  12. OK. I'll shut up now. This having a young pitcher thing has got me very confused. MAYBE in the offseason it would an avenue to explore but unlikely. Q has a cheap option for next year and we need SP and augmenting the 5th spot next year with Adbert next year without spending on it can open up some money to build out the rest of the roster on offense or bullpen. I doubt Q can return anything right now that makes us better for the year and it's probably a toss up in the offseason too. There's ways to work Adbert in (regardless of Hendricks health) this year to maximize things. I figure a Lester trip to the IL, real or made up, is all but an inevitability (and maybe more than once), so that alone is probably going to get him a decent amount of starts. But yeah, the Cubs are nowhere near any kind of pitching depth where they could consider trading a starter.
  13. I can’t help but feel we’re close to being a dominate contender, close to the Dodgers level. I can also see this team imploding too if one or two things go wrong. This is kind of a weird team Adbert and Kimbrel showing up and consistently kicking ass would go a long, long way to making the former happen.
  14. Big dude with a bad foot injury giving flashbacks to big dudes past who had nagging foot injuries that shortened their careers significantly, or worse. Makes sense, but seems like a risk worth taking at this point in the draft. I definitely agree. It's a gamble, but I'd do it.
